"I Loved Him Before the World Did" – Thelma's Story

He wasn’t a legend when I met him. He was just Ozzy. A little lost, a little loud, but kind... and mine.

It was the late ‘60s, and I was just a young schoolteacher, trying to build a quiet life. Then came Ozzy — wide-eyed, reckless, and unforgettable. He wasn’t famous yet, but there was something in him... something wild that both frightened and fascinated me. A storm waiting to happen.

We married in 1971. He was already on the road with Black Sabbath, and I tried to keep the home standing while the world started screaming his name. We had two beautiful children. And Ozzy loved them, I believe that. But fame doesn’t raise families — and the music, the madness, the drugs… they swallowed him whole.

I watched the man I married disappear, piece by piece. The laughter turned to silence. The warmth faded behind bottles and backstage doors. Sometimes I’d catch glimpses of the real Ozzy — the one who made us laugh at the dinner table, the one who held our babies like they were everything. But those moments were fleeting.

I wasn't perfect either. Maybe I didn’t know how to reach someone who didn’t want to be saved. I was trying to hold together a life that was already on fire.

By 1982, we said goodbye. Quietly. No headlines. No scandal. Just a woman who loved a man the world now claimed as theirs.

He went on to become a legend. The Prince of Darkness. A name etched into rock history. And I went back to the classroom — to quiet days and a quieter heart.

But sometimes, late at night, when the house is still, I think about that boy from Birmingham. The one who once whispered dreams to me under streetlights.

I loved him before the world did. And maybe, in some small forgotten way… he loved me too.

North Tarrant Holistic Fair

North Tarrant County was lacking in ways to educate and assist people who are looking for holistic, ‘green’, natural ways of healing and well-being. There are holistic fairs all over Dallas, and a few in Fort Worth/Mid-Cities, but none for those of us living in the north! So we decided to start one in 2018 that the surrounding communities would have easy access to!

If you are searching for new and natural ways to live a better life by using ‘green’ products, want to learn how to use essential oils, want to have access to energy healers or psychic/intuitive readers to assist in well-being physically and spiritually, or you just want beautiful crystals, stones or jewelry - this is the place to find it on 2nd Sundays in February, April, June, August, October and December! Sam and Annette look forward to meeting you and in assisting to fulfill the holistic needs of the surrounding communities!
