A few weeks ago, I was telling a couple teenage patients about a trip to Cabo San Lucas. They asked me if we took any video on our smart phone of this wild moment, but back then, smartphones didn’t exist (I'm old haha). It was a “you had to be there” moment. 📴 Those are rare today, as teenagers are glued to their phones missing the opportunity to experience what truly makes us human.
The average teen spends 7 hours and 22 minutes a day on their phone—more than a goldfish’s attention span! 😳 Technology is amazing (I can control my thermostat from anywhere!), but doom scrolling is stealing the experiences that make us human.
How many kids will miss out on core memories because they’re behind a screen?
Let’s set a new standard:
🌴 No phones on vacation.
📴 Tech-free weekends (Saturday to Sunday).
📞 Swap smartphones for basic call-and-text devices.
To reclaim what makes us human, we need to unplug and be present. As AI advances, let’s not lose the magic of real experiences—like that one time in Cabo, in the pool, living fully in the moment. 🌊
What’s one way you’ll ditch the phone and make a memory this week?
