Terry "Taco" Howard, along with the Holly Springs Baptist Church Mission Team started this event in 2003 as a fundraiser for missions in the United States and other countries. Terry organized this event along with the HSBC Mission team for 3 years before losing his life to cancer. In 2006, several members of HSBC along with Hank Mahan as the leader, decided to keep the ride going in honor and memory of Terry Howard thus the name, "Terry"Taco" Howard Memorial Trail & ATV Ride." In 2011 the decision was made to donate all funds made to Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH). The money donated from this event goes into the Immediate Needs Fund for care of uninsured and underinsured children. ACH is one of the leading pediatric hospitals in the United States caring for children from Arkansas and surrounding states. NO CHILD within the borders of Arkansas is ever turned away regardless of the ability or inability to pay. In 2012, the Holly Springs Methodist Church joined us in this fundraising effort and the slogan "Riding for a Reason" was adopted. The weekend event, which is the first Saturday in April each year, includes the horse and wagon ride, an ATV ride, and activities for children of all ages. On Friday night, for donations only, a soup, chili and hot dog meal is provided for all who wish to attend and there is live music in the HSBC Family Life Center for all to enjoy. On Saturday, after the riders have returned a bbq meal with all the
trimmings is available in the HSBC Fellowship Hall. The final event of the day is the Auction which takes place @ 2:00 p.m. IF YOU WOULD LIKE MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS EVENT PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT HANK MAHAN AT 870-687-1962 OR 870-687-2738.
