Our new team at ER at North Valleys is made up of a lot of skilled professionals contributing to exceptional patient care. Meet Dr. Michael Kidon. He's a rockstar who joined our team seven years ago from Denver, CO., where he completed medical school. During that time, he met ER medical director, Travis Anderson, MD, who inspired him to join our health system. When asked how a freestanding emergency department contributes to better community care, he shared, "The FED model is a great resource for the community because care is available to anyone at any age. It also gives patients more options and is an efficient way to receive care."

Our staff go the extra mile when it comes to professional development and nurse leader, Kimberly Swetnika, surely did as she recently completed a certification in perianesthesia. She shared, "I pursued the CAPA (Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia) certification to enhance my skills and knowledge in my field, ensuring I stay competitive and effective. It's important to me because it represents my commitment to professional growth and my passion for delivering the best results. I work in day surgery and also in PACU as a clinical supervisor."

Kudos to Kimberly for extending her knowledge and enhancing the surgical department.

Earlier today we introduced one of our first babies — now it’s time to celebrate double the joy!

Ringing in the New Year with one of the first babies born at Sierra Medical Center! Meet Aura, born on January 1st and already brightening the new year like a ray of sunshine! She weighs 7 lbs 8 oz, measures 19¼ inches and joins three proud siblings: Isaiah (12), Savannah (8), and Malachi (2) — keeping the family’s perfect pattern of boy, girl, boy, girl!

Fun fact: Aura’s mom was also born on the 1st (October 1)! 🎉 Congratulations to this beautiful family and all who welcomed new additions to start 2026!

Just a few more days until the ER at North Valleys, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, is open for patient care. The ER at North Valleys is open 24/7 and will treat all ages from pediatrics to seniors. The facility features multiple treatment rooms, including fast-track exam rooms designed to efficiently triage low-severity patients, and did you know it's also always open for routine or emergent advanced diagnostic imaging, including CT, X-Ray and lab draws.
