Karen’s background
Karen Dooley is a creative, curious soul who is well versed in her practice of massage and considers it her greatest art form. She graduated from Baltimore School of Massage in 1999, and has been working for almost 20 years in a variety of environments, including salons, fitness centers and massage booths at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. She has experience in partnering with chiropractors and other wellness practitioners for integrative care.
Karen has certifications in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Reflexology and more. Karen continues to expand her abilities all the time and research new ways to combine the techniques she knows to provide the best session she can offer that is tailored to each of her clients. Her goal is always to get to the root of any problems in order to find ways to solve or reduce their impact in someone's life. Karen believes no one should have to live with pain. Karen's goal is to help reduce or heal the pain completely. She strives to do her best in that endeavor.
As a “latch-key” kid, Karen never got to spend a lot of time with her parents as her dad worked in the day and her mom at night. Massage changed that. Her mother, an RN who worked 11pm to 7am, would come home, get a shower and breakfast and be on the massage table by 9am. Afterwards, they would actually hang out and go places! It was such a dramatic change in their lives that it might as well have been magic at work on that table. When she realized she had a talent for it too, she dedicated her life to it, making massage, and body work in general, her Art.
