As an in-network provlder with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, United Healthcare, Oxford, Cigna, Medicare, QualCare, UMR and numerous others, your liability is generally limited to a copayment or a percentage of discounted fee that he has agreed to. You will not have to pay the full fee upfront and wait for reimbursement by the carrier if you have an out of network benefit. Generally, the percentages covered if you have an out of network benefit are very poor and occur only after paying out a greatly increased deductible. Dr. Chartoff participates in many employee assistance programs which provide free counseling for a limited number of sessions. You should call your company's human resources department or insurance company to see if those benefits are available to you.
