Huge shoutout to the Sparta Police Department, right here in our hometown, for an outstanding ice rescue on Lake Mohawk near Rainbow Trail.
Patrolman Michael P**n demonstrated exactly what training, preparation, and commitment look like when seconds matter. Certified in ice rescue and equipped with the right tools, he crawled onto unstable ice, entered freezing water, and successfully rescued a dog that had fallen through—bringing it safely back to solid ground. This was a textbook example of calm decision-making, physical grit, and professional ex*****on under dangerous conditions.
We’re proud to support Sparta PD with the equipment they trust in moments like this, including Mustang Ice Commander suits, 75’ rescue throw bags, CWRS equipment, and Team Wendy helmets. Incidents like this are a powerful reminder that ice conditions are unpredictable and that proper training and purpose-built equipment save lives—human and animal alike.
If your agency is preparing for winter operations or ice rescue response, now is the time to evaluate your training and equipment. Visit our website to learn how we can help get your personnel ready before the next call comes in.
