Our Story
Center for Evaluation and Counseling, Inc. (CEC) is a non-profit mental health center with an innovative approach and unmatched results. CEC offers mental health and supportive services to abused and neglected children and their families within our communities. CEC provides a child friendly environment where troubled minds are healed and hearts are mended. Our services include individual and family counseling as well as therapeutic supervised visitation. The goals of the services are to reduce the likelihood of future abuse and neglect, to strengthen family functioning in order to preserve the unity of the family and to reduce or avoid separations wherever possible. The single greatest predictor of how well a child will recover is the support and understanding that a parent/caregiver can give. A childās life may be altered by abuse, but it is not defined by abuse. CEC inspires confidence and respect as a provider of comprehensive behavioral healthcare to the children and families we serve.
CEC serves the children, our most vulnerable population and helping to meet their basic needs. Many abused and neglected children often go without having their basic needs met. Their needs can be physical in terms of housing, food, medical care, and education. Additionally, children have emotional needs such as security, structure, and stability in order to safely grow and develop. We offer Trauma-Informed care in order for children to heal from the physical and emotional wounds. For caregivers, CEC teaches parenting skills, life skills, and social skills combined with supportive therapeutic services. CEC is an advocate for children and their families. Trauma experienced in one generation of a family can affect generations to come. CEC has seen how unresolved traumas from oneās past heavily influences a personās present.
