The best way to get steps in by far is exploring a new place you’ve never been to. 🤘🏼

Pretty wild considering Sleepy Hollow isn’t that far from me and the story of the headless horseman is one that has fascinated me since I was a wee youth. I loved looking at all the old headstones and buildings. Seeing just how old some of them were was mind blowing. History, in general, is mind blowing. (I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that electricity wasn’t common in homes not even 100 years yet. But that’s a whole different tangent.) To think back on those times and how life was… none of us would survive. We’re too soft 🤣

Regardless, the best way to end the trip was with more walking through a glorious installation of lit up Jack-o’-lantern’s. It was so fun and so cool to look at. Not a bad way to enjoy spooky season 🎃

Let me know if you too are a fan of the lore of the headless horseman 🐎

After the workout compared to before 😅

I quite literally had to tell myself to “just start.” Over and over and over again. That’s how it’s done most of the time to be honest. Then before you know it, you’ve got one superset left feeling like a total badass because you didn’t quit. You didn’t let lack of motivation keep you down and you are stronger for it!

Pick a phrase you can rely on in times of low energy or interest and say it CONSTANTLY. I don’t care how lame it may feel. That s**t WORKS! Your internal dialogue influences your external outcomes. Choose wisely. 🤘🏼

It really is important that along with properly training your body you are also properly training your mind.

Change from a negative space is never acknowledged. It’s never enough and all efforts feel futile. Shifting your mindset to one of kindness does the complete opposite. It opens your eyes up to the mountains you’ve moved to get to where you already are. Gaining that kind of perspective uplifts you thus furthering that fuel inside you to keep going over throwing in the towel or engaging in self sabotaging behavior.

Your mindset is the most powerful and impactful piece of your overall health journey. Nourish it with compassion and kindness. If it feels uncomfortable or unnatural, keep trying. Allow yourself time to rewire your brain so you can finally acknowledge the full scope of all you already are. 🤘🏼

I was lucky enough to be able to spend with the QUEEN of mental health in the fitness space. And what an honor it was to FINALLY get a chance to get my ass kicked physically IRL whilst simultaneously being uplifted mentally by her.

During our session, Kelsey said something along the lines of if something feels cringey to you, it’s an indication that you need to do more of it. And that hit me more than I care to admit because just a few moments earlier I was staring at myself in the bathroom mirror thinking that I didn’t belong here. That I was making a fool of myself by trekking it into the city from my small little wooded town alone. Kinda ironic thinking that at a mental health event, but that is a part of it living with your mind right? The continued battle against our own thoughts.
Regardless, her session reminded me why I came here in the first place and I’m glad I didn’t let my brain stop me from stepping out of my comfort zone to realign with my own personal ethos.

Thank you to for putting on such an inspiring event in the name of such an important message. Mental health is king and no one should ever feel alone or dismissed in their mental health struggles.

And of course, thank you to FINALLY getting a chance to have a conversation in person after years of supporting each other in text. You are an absolute gem and give the best damn hugs! Forever grateful for the message you continue to spread in a space that likes to keep women small in every sense.
Genuine. You are genuine. 💚

Motivation is so fleeting. That’s why I try my best to make things as fun as they possibly can be to add a little excitement to the every day workout grind.

What are you go rituals that fall back on when workout motivation drops? Let’s help each other out 👇🏼
