I have fallen for every single one of these at one point or another throughout my fitness journey and it has absolutely WRECKED my mental health. So much so that some have taken years to relearn and readjust. Here’s the thing. At the time I didn’t know better, which caused me to spiral and get obsessive. But hopefully in seeing this post you can dodge these lies and spare your mental health. Let’s get to the truth 🤘🏼

❇️ there is a purpose to every kind of intensity workout. Low, high, and in between. The variety helps keep you in it for the long haul and allows your body to recover.

❇️ it happened whether or not you remembered your fitness tracker. Don’t let yourself get caught up in all the numbers.

❇️ Doing 2 a days gets you on a fast track to burnout. Again, there is a point and purpose to every kind of intensity workout. Take it for what it is and be proud that you moved today.

❇️ it is a snapshot. A brief, like REALLY BRIEF moment in time. It IS NOT SUSTAINABLE! That level of leanness can cause a myriad of physical health problems and complications as well as dangerous mental health problems, like eating disorders and body dysmorphia to name a few.

❇️ the truth is ANY kind of movement that you can get in throughout your busy schedule IS A WIN. There is no such things as a perfect week. Please don’t let a few postponed workouts make you feel like you failed.

Fitness is about complimenting your life, not highjacking it. Do your best to let go of the toxic fitness bulls**t that you’ve been fed and set yourself up for a truly healthy you, body, mind and soul. 🖤

Unsubscribed and never felt better 🤘🏼

I WISH more people talked about and normalized this. Maybe then I wouldn’t have gone years through all the unhealthy lengths of trying to get back to and stay at my 17 year old weight and body. So I’m gonna say what I didn’t know/ have back then…

BODYWEIGHT AND YOUR BODY CHANGE OVER TIME. As you age, things NATURALLY slow down, lifestyles change, priorities change, so naturally weight changes too. But what doesn’t change is YOUR WORTH THROUGH IT ALL.

Trying to get down to a weight when you were that young is incredibly unrealistic and unhealthy for many and it sucks that we live in a world where that s**t is still so glorified. It sucks that society still puts so much pressure on women to be as small as possible and to somehow defy time. You see it resurfacing with “skinnytok.” Rather than being able to celebrate yourself at every stage, you are constantly bombarded with and sold the idea that if your body doesn’t stay as she was at 17 that you have failed or are unworthy…that you need to go to such great lengths to get back to that stupid number in order to feel good about yourself.
You don’t.

At 38 years old, I’m finally at peace with where my body is at. I no longer strive for a body that I’ve outgrown. I weight no where near what I did when I was 17. And yet, I am able to fully and wholeheartedly cherish the body I have right now and all that she enables me to do on a daily basis. It is possible to unsubscribe to societal bulls**t. It is possible to embrace the changes your body goes through and reclaim your worth. It starts with me and you. 🖤

My mental health is healthy. 🧡

I spent the weekend celebrating my Godson and his brother in their accomplishments. I also got to see my aunt and uncle who I haven’t seen in real life in YEARS! Due to the fact that we live on different continents. It took a minute, but it was fun unlocking the Polish side of my brain. Curious. Do you speak more than one language?

Truthfully, the only fun part around here is getting to connect with like minded individuals ALL OVER THE WORLD who love to use fitness as a way to care for their mental and physical health as much as I do.
