OH WHAT A GREAT ADDITION THIS WOULD BE!

At Pal’s Sudden Service in Jefferson City, Tennessee, you pull up and get some of the fastest and most loved fast food in the state. People come here for the Big Pal burger, hot dogs, seasoned fries, sweet tea, and thick milkshakes, all made fresh and handed out quick. There’s no dining room at all, just a simple two-window drive-thru that runs smooth and keeps the line moving. Locals know it’s fast, but they also know the food is always made right. Pal’s got its start in 1956 in Kingsport, Tennessee, when Fred “Pal” Barger opened the first location after studying early fast food spots in Chicago. What started as one small place has grown into 31 locations across Tennessee and Virginia. It has even won the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, something no other restaurant company has done. Around here, Pal’s isn’t just a quick stop to eat, it’s part of everyday life for people across the region.

In the Netherlands, a power plant run by BMC Moerdijk generates electricity by burning poultry manure — yes, chicken p**p.

In a technical assessment using BMC’s 2015 operational data, the plant produced about 285 GWh of electricity per year, with around 254 GWh delivered to the national grid—an amount estimated as enough for roughly 70,000 households.

Even the leftovers get used: the ash is rich in phosphorus and potassium, and after treatment it’s turned into PK fertilizer for farms in places like France and Belgium.

Renewable energy, circular farming — from coop to crop.
