Today's birthday table.

Happy birthday to this long established client who has known for years one secret I don't actually advertise.

I'll explain, just hang in there with me.

This client is giving herself the gift of Nirvana- my 75 min massage.
As my contribution to the celebration of every person who made it another year around the sun and chooses to end up on my table for it, birthday massages receive a complimentary upgrade for spending their special day with me. Its once a year, its 15 minutes- and it's my pleasure.

So she is actually staying on the table for 90 mins at the 75 minute price. She's also racked up some credits so her bottom line is not much. Happy birthday to her, and her everyday self is truly a gift to me!

Heres the trick though, to make it work I have to know about the appointment in advance and often there is no note in the appointment when it was made.

This way I usually find out as a last minute confession during our consultation. If the schedule is packed, I'll offer this upgrade on a return visit if my schedule doesn't allow 15 minutes extra that day, sometimes it does.
Many people have come to give a gift to themselves but end up receiving a surprise gift of time from me as well.

I loveeee those sessions.

But the good outweighs the bad on this one because even if a client came once a year just to do the extra 15, that's where they're at and I'm happy to meet them there.

Some clients come in only after being chewed up by the world, some come every week, every other week, monthly or simply annually on their birthday. Usually it ends the same- tension gone, and that sleepy massage look frames their face while they thank me and make their way down the ramp to go home and take a nap.

I love what I do, I love my clients, the thoughtful bosses who message me with concerns or thoughts in anticipation of their visit. Or the ones who say, just for this one day- my birthday-please put me back in my body.

Here's to this months birthdays! From April fools, to the tax crunch deadlines and let's not forget those vibing 4/20. April is a birthday cornucopia of delightful and amazing people.

Today's got me thinking about boss theory. Have I told you boss theory? Did you know when you come to my table, you're my boss?

I'm here at the spa, anyone looking to do skinsuit maintenance- muscle edition, these are my people. Just like changing oil in the car, the muscles have needs to optimally operate.

When folks are seeking an independent contractor for bodywork or massage, they're saying I want to hire someone to meet this need. I don't know what to do, I can't reach- I'm going to hire someone with know-how.

Folks scour the web and make their choices based on what they find. So.etimes they'll come across my table. In this instance, since they signed their name to my schedule they're saying I'd like to try out to be your boss. I have a need, you know what to do- let's see if we mesh.

So every day I look at my schedule. These people who have said, I'll he the person to contribute to your paycheck today. I'll be there at your place at this time.

PERFECT! LET ME PREPARE!
I'll come in early, get the linens set. Put the towels in the heater snd turn the stone warmer on. I make the table with kindness and anticipation in my heart. I love meeting new bosses.

Sometimes they arrive early, nervous- or perhaps the parking lot was tricky. Perhaps they arrive the moment of their appointment, riding in on a wing and a prayer- sideways. Everyone has a story, it's all the same.

Life is chewing me up here, and here and here.

I say okay, take a deep breath, let's get you on the table. Systematically I strip away the stress on the neuro level. I incorporate hot stones and steamed towel wraps. I prepared for you!

Sometimes I'm not someone's right person. So they keep looking for their massage therapist. I'm happy we had the session, thanks for trying me out, boss. Be well.

Sometimes bosses ask me to do other types of system maintenance. Just ew, I don't like the vibe of those bosses. They're fired immediately.

Sometimes bosses don't make it to their session, I always worry thinking the best of them. Then I'll get the frantic call or text, and most times the secret parking lot wins again.

Sometimes bosses don't let me know they changed their minds and their schedule changed. Of those some are accidental and they're embarrassed. Some are on purpose. I try to avoid these bosses.

Today's boss has me at their house. I am not open to travel for the public, but today's vibe gets recognition.

To all my bosses past and present, I thank you!! The kindness and support I've been shown by some of the most thoughtful people has me in contemplation today.

I have gratitude for knowing sun shine when I see it, but it's only for the rain that I truly love it. So for all the bosses out there, thanks again for everything.

Every table I set with intention, and is intentionally different.
Each blanket is double sided with unique prints on each side. Varying colors and patterns of sheets each create a different effect each time.

My first client today will be greeted with the joy of a sunrise 🌅 all ready and waiting on the table before them.

For a quick moment- pause with me. Take a deep breath, drop your shoulders, relax your jaw. It's a great and beautiful day today-

I'm into long posts lately, and this beautiful weekend has me pondering, so here goes..
As the holiday approaches I can see how busy everyone has been. The drive thrus seem busier, yet the Salon and Spa parking lots have been quieter. The grocery store is buzzing with more people, the rail trail bas been booming- a lot of activity- yet its not about every day, mundane things. It's a holiday.

People are getting together their best outfits, the eggs are getting decorated then hidden. Photo opportunities abound. Its all in the excitement. Can you feel it?

Then the countdown, the quiet begins on Friday. Everything just sits differently in the air. This week has been restorative.

I've been contemplating in the quiet, a lot. I then sit back and watch the world through my own eyes- Easter has many different faces but the one that stands out is to me is the anticipation. It's everywhere...

Anticipation is a type of focus, isn't it? Whether there's baskets or not, whether there's church clothes or not, kids or grandkids or not--> everyone knows its only a couple days till half off candy.

So I've concluded, since we are all permanent souls and as a group make up humanity, I'll just address that it is possible for us to focus, gently in the background on something that's important -as we all feel the hum of anticipation. You don't have to admit with any honesty between which is your favorite part, the Word or half off Hershey's kisses. Either way everyone's pouring into the air all around them as they prepare.
So I tip my hat to the collective, the thing that makes us human- the common thread we all share as humanity. Because the pattern is the same, year after year, and I want you to know I see you.

As a pattern, it's possible to focus for all good reasons for an entire week every year. Preparing meals, coordinating plans, being busy getting clothes, eggs, shredded paper grass with kids home from school and all that entails.

Yes indeedy- Very Good on that focus, whatever your celebration- I knew you had it in ya. I'll be looking for the same focus for yourself on yourself later when you need it.
*long, slow wink inserted here*

To me this quiet time allows me to give myself permission for deep rest from the holiday season that magically keeps going long after the holiday has passed. We all need quiet time, thats what I tell those who sign up to be on my table. Plus this is also why I enjoy silent services-> to think of such things.

I'm happy to assist bringing people back to their centers, putting them back inside their bodies and be that place of deep rest after the world keeps chewing them up and spitting them out. What an honor it's been.

So to my clients as a group I want to say thank you for allowing Green Lily Day Spa and little ol me to be that space for you. Big love.

Dear Diary,

January feels a little softer around here. The holidays are over, things have slowed down, and I can tell everyone who walks into Green Lily is ready for a quiet moment just for themselves.

I love watching guests come in and then leave looking calm, refreshed, and glowing. The smiles I see afterward make my little fish heart so happy. It reminds me how powerful even a small moment of care can be. 🫧

After all the celebrating, giving, and busy days, it’s okay to pause. A facial, a massage, or even just a peaceful moment to breathe. I float gently when my world feels busy — humans deserve that too.

So if January feels like it’s asking a lot, this is your gentle reminder: you deserve rest, warmth, and care. Green Lily is a beautiful place to take that moment for yourself. 💚
