🌟 Staff Spotlight: Denise Bynum 🌟
Direct Support Professional | Movie Buff | Proud Yorkie Mom | Mom of Two 🎬🐾💙

Meet Denise Bynum, a valued member of our North Carolina team, who has been with the Charles Lea Center since 2019. 💙
For Denise, the best part of her work is helping the people we serve grow and achieve their goals. 💫 She shares:
💬 “It’s a rewarding job that makes a difference in a person’s life.”
As a Direct Support Professional, Denise assists with daily living needs, supports personal goals, and joins in on outings and appointments to make sure those she serves can thrive in their communities.
Denise attended a business institute in New York City. Outside of work, she enjoys watching movies, spending time with her grown son and daughter, and spoiling her Yorkie, Gizmo. 🐶❤️
We are grateful for Denise’s dedication, her kindness, and the heart she brings to CLC each day — and we deeply appreciate all she does and her 6+ years of service with us! 🎉👏💚

💙✨ Today marks the start of National Direct Support Professional (DSP) Recognition Week! ✨💙

At the Charles Lea Center, our DSPs are the heart of what we do. 💚 They are the caring, dedicated professionals who walk alongside the people we support every day. They help with anything needed from daily living, encouraging independence, building skills, and celebrating life’s big and small moments.

A DSP is more than a job title. They are teachers, advocates, cheerleaders, and friends. Most importantly, they are the reason so many individuals with developmental disabilities can thrive, grow, and live life to the fullest. 🌟

To every DSP at the Charles Lea Center and beyond, we thank you! Your compassion, patience, and commitment make a world of difference, and we are so grateful for you! 💚

The Charles Lea Center’s Information Technology & Innovative Services team recently had an inspiring day at the T-Mobile Innovation Center in Atlanta. ✨

We are so grateful to T-Mobile for hosting us and connecting us with their incredible partners. From hands-on demonstrations to forward-thinking discussions, it was a day full of innovation, learning, and exciting opportunities, all of which will work to help us shape future projects at the CLC.
We’re excited about what’s to come and thankful for partners who believe in innovation and inclusion as much as we do! 💚✨

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Chanda Cohen 🌟
Lead Direct Support Professional | Family-Focused | Fun-Loving ✨
Meet Chanda Cohen, a Lead Direct Support Professional who has been part of the Charles Lea Center family for almost 13 years! 🎉

💬 “The most exciting thing about working here is something new happens every day. It’s never a dull moment.”

For Chanda, joining CLC was the beginning of a new journey that built on her educational background, and she has thrived ever since. In her role, she does “a little of everything” supporting those served at the CLC including:
🍳 Cooking
💊 Administering medication
📦 Completing inventory
🚐 Transporting
📚 Training (both in-home and OJT)
💚 Advocating for the health and well-being of every individual who receives services.
Chanda is a proud graduate of USC Upstate, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a Minor in Psychology and an Early Childhood Certificate.

Outside of work, Chanda loves crafting and cooking. She’s also a proud mom to two athletic kids — Jo and Woogie. Though she admits she doesn’t have an “athletic limb” herself, she’s their biggest cheerleader. 🏀🏃‍♀️
Family means everything to Chanda. She’s always ready to celebrate good news — whether it’s hers or yours. As she puts it:

💬 “I like to work hard but have fun. I put out the energy I want in return.”
Thank you, Chanda, for your energy, commitment, and positivity. You help make CLC a brighter, happier place every single day! 💫

We're excited to welcome three new members to the 2025–2026 Charles Lea Center Board of Directors! Throughout August, we’ll be introducing each of them right here.
We’re grateful for their commitment—and for all of our board members—who help make the CLC a national leader in supporting people with disabilities.

🎉 Please help us welcome back our newest Board Member, Andy Peake!
Andy is no stranger to the Charles Lea Center as he previously served as Board Chairman, and his passion for our mission has inspired him to return to serve once again. 🌟

With 27 years of experience in real estate development and architectural design, Andy currently works as Project Architect at Peter Weisman / Kinney Hill Associates LLC, overseeing all aspects of commercial real estate from design and development to construction, leasing, and property management.

A proud Clemson graduate (🐾), Andy has also earned his general contractor’s license in South Carolina and his architect’s license in Wisconsin (soon in SC too!). His expertise allows him to see projects through from the very first sketch to the final build.

Outside of work, Andy enjoys life with his wife of 28 years, Angela, and their two sons, Drew (22), a skilled mechanic, and Alex (19), who is following in his dad’s footsteps as a student at Clemson. When he’s not on a job site, you’ll often find Andy boating, fishing, or cheering on the Tigers.

We are thrilled to have Andy back on our Board and know his leadership and dedication will continue to make a difference at the Charles Lea Center! 💚

Meet Blake Kirsch — Our Newest Board of Directors Member! 🌟
As a third-generation Realtor® and proud Wofford College graduate, Blake brings a wealth of business knowledge, strong local roots, and a dedication to community service.

Real estate runs deep in Blake’s blood. His family owns three Century 21 franchises in Spartanburg, Boiling Springs, and Greenville. 🏡 He joined the family business at just 18 years old and quickly rose to the top as he was the #1 agent for Century 21 Blackwell & Co. in units sold and gross closed commission in both 2023 and 2024.

Blake has served on local boards including the Cancer Association of Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties and the Spartanburg Art Museum. Now, he brings that same passion for service and community to the Charles Lea Center. And he's already making an impact - as a competitor in the Charles Lea Center Foundation's upcoming Lip Sync Battle Spartanburg, he's raised more than $50,000! Thank You!

We’re excited to welcome Blake's leadership, expertise, and heart to the CLC board! 💚

🌟Staff Spotlight: Hollynn Haley 🌟
Senior Director of Human Resources | Mom of 3 under 5 | Proud Veteran

Meet Hollynn Haley, who joined the Charles Lea Center in May 2025 and though she’s not been here long, she hit the ground running and has been making an impact from day one. 💥

“Having a son who is autistic has made our mission personal and deeply valuable to me. I’m honored to be part of the work we do.”

Hollynn is passionate about servant-leadership, supporting employees so they can focus on what matters most, the people we serve. She recently completed her BBA, is starting her MBA this fall, and is wrapping up her SHRM-SCP certification. 🎓✨

When she’s not leading at the CLC, Hollynn is busy being a wife, mom to three little ones, and dog-mom to Georgie. She loves staying active outdoors, traveling, horseback riding, gardening, and sneaking in quiet moments with a good book. 🌱🌱🐎📖

We’re so glad you’re part of the CLC family, Hollynn! 💚
