Live Healthy Spartanburg’s mission is to achieve health equity and improve health outcomes for all Spartanburg County residents.

We are committed to aligning community & stakeholders to bring about sustainable health solutions rooted in equity. Live Healthy Spartanburg represents the consolidation of two former health collaboratives, Road to Better Health (2009), and Spartanburg’s Way to Wellville (2014). Despite its many challenges due to the pandemic, 2021 marked the year of becoming one unified health initiative with dedicated staff, and a collaborative network of multisectoral organizations committed to addressing Spartanburg County’s health and well-being needs. Our initiative plans to continue the work outlined by the former health collaboratives by completing the first comprehensive Community Health Improvement Plan for the county based on both quantitative and qualitative data provided by the Community Health Needs Assessment and Spartanburg County’s Racial Equity Index reports. We are committed as a health initiative to assuring community voice is highlighted and factors that exist beyond health care are addressed in our community as they are a direct driver in our health outcomes. ➡️Today is World Condom Day — a global reminder that prevention, education, and open conversations protect community health.

➡️Meet Loree, Prevention Coordinator at Piedmont Care, who has spent 10 years helping make sexual health conversations approachable and stigma-free.

When asked what she loves about her work, Loree shared:
“I love what I do. People shy away from these conversations, and anything I can do to make people comfortable so they can access resources improves their health — and improves community health overall.”

➡️Piedmont Care provides FREE HIV testing with same-day results, counseling, prevention education, and condom distribution to support our community. Loree even created fun resource gift bags to make prevention feel welcoming and accessible.

➡️Why this matters: Spartanburg reported 941 HIV/AIDS cases in 2022. Across the South, new HIV diagnoses remain high, and an estimated 13% of people living with HIV don’t know they have the virus.

Thank you, Loree, for helping break stigma, expand access, and strengthen community health.

This is Dale. He’s been part of the Bellews family for 14 years. And this is Griffin, who’s been working here for six. These two love what they do because they get to share fresh, healthy produce with our community every day.

🍑🥦 Bellews Country Store Spartanburg’s Fresh Produce Treasure! 🥕🍓

Did you know Bellews has been part of our community for over 35 years? Cliff, current owner and a former peach farmer with a lifelong love for produce, bought the store February 1st, 2022. His passion about produce came from growing up on a peach farm just outside of Greer.

The store partners with PAL: Play Advocate Live Well so EBT/SNAP shoppers receive 50% off fresh produce, making healthy eating easier and more affordable for everyone. They source from local farmers and farms from Florida, Asheville and Columbia, Bellews isn’t just about food, it’s about community and connection.

This is Ms.Terri. She has been serving at Ruth’s Gleanings for seven years, and when I asked her what this work means to her, she said,
“I just want to help people.”

That heart is felt everywhere here. From the volunteers gathered in the lobby, to the scripture on the wall, to the hands packing boxes day after day. Every distribution, Ruth’s Gleanings prepares 400 to 500 FoodShare boxes to help neighbors in Spartanburg access healthier food.

🍎 Anyone can apply online
🥗 SNAP and EBT recipients are welcome to apply and receive added support
🍎 FoodShare boxes are available every other week
🥗 Volunteers and food donations are always needed
