SXSE Springfest at The Music Camp on April 22-23, benefits Lawson Academy of the Arts at Converse College in Spartanburg. Your donation could enable a child to attend summer day camp, receive classes in visual arts, creative writing, music, dance, and theater or help a special needs child benefit from individual music therapy sessions. Rich in history and known for its tradition in educational excellence in music and dance, Lawson Academy serves more than 1,000 families each year and introduces Converse music students to the very important and needed service of teaching. In the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains the Pacolet River carved out a natural amphitheater on a beautiful piece of property we now call The Music Camp. Playing host to bands such as the Greenfield Excursion (the reason for The Music Camp), Belleville Outfit, The Duhks, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Waybacks and many others, The Music Camp has been called Spartanburg's very own Bonnaroo. Easily accessible from Interstate 85, once you've made your way down the winding access road leaving the city limits behind, and pass-through the gate of The Music Camp you forget that you're just minutes away from a thriving city. Primitive camping is available on the property on a first-come-first-served basis and is highly encouraged. Bring your tent, tarps and coolers and set-up your own little community. If camping isn't for you, feel free to come and go as you please. DIRECTIONS:
From I-85, take exit 80, then follow the detour signs. From Spartanburg's East Side (with no detours): Take 29 (E Main St Extended) OR Cannon's Campground Rd North toward Cowpens. Turn right on Bud Arthur Bridge Rd. Turn right on Childress Rd. Camp is at end of Childress Rd.
