Capri gave us quite the surprise at Palmetto Animal Urgent Care! Can you guess what those white objects are in her x-ray? 🩻

After not feeling well at home, diagnostics showed she had ingested 🪨ROCKS🪨 that became lodged in her intestines. Dr. Meghan Sullivan performed an enterotomy to safely remove them from her intestines, and Capri is now recovering comfortably💕

A good reminder that if your pet isn’t acting like themselves, don’t wait to get them checked. Early care matters! 🐕 🩻 🪨 🐾

Sometimes it’s easier to get down on the floor and get a good look🙃

Good news for Fletcher! 🐶 He recently had abdominal surgery to remove a piece of cloth he swallowed, but his incision has healed perfectly.

Because of that, he finally gets to take off his e-collar! So proud of this brave boy and thankful for a smooth recovery. 💙

🐾 Big Boy’s Story: Stronger Than Ever 🐾

Meet Big Boy, a sweet cat who recently came to our team at Palmetto Animal Urgent Care after suffering a devastating injury. Big Boy had been shot in the leg, and the injury shattered the bone beyond repair. It was a heartbreaking situation for his family, and the kind of moment every pet owner hopes they’ll never face.

After carefully evaluating his injury and discussing the options, the best way to relieve Big Boy’s pain and give him the best quality of life was to perform a leg amputation. While that can sound like a frightening and drastic change, pets are incredibly resilient.

Today, Big Boy is doing amazing. 💙

He’s already adapting to life on three legs! Moving around comfortably, exploring, and getting back to being the loving cat his family knows. Animals have an incredible ability to adjust. In fact, many pets who lose a limb go on to run, jump, climb, and play just like before. Their bodies and spirits are remarkably adaptable.

If you’re a pet owner facing the difficult possibility of an amputation for your dog or cat, please know that it’s often a life saving, pain relieving procedure that allows pets to thrive again. What may feel like a drastic change to us is something many animals adapt to much faster than we expect.

Big Boy’s journey is a beautiful reminder that with the right care, support, and love, pets can overcome even the toughest challenges.
We’re so proud of this brave boy and grateful to be part of his recovery. 🐈‍⬛ 💕

🐾 Meet Lydia. The tough little dog with a warrior heart.

After being shot, Lydia fought for her life. She was rushed into emergency surgery where Dr.Payton-Russell had to stop severe internal bleeding and remove over 1 foot of damaged small intestine caused by the bullet.

But Lydia? She’s stronger than anyone expected.

Today, her mom says she’s home, healing, and doing great with her pack, surrounded by love, wagging tails, and the comfort of family.

From tragedy to triumph, Lydia is proof that courage comes in small, furry packages. ❤️🐶

I chewed up your toy doll’s head…
Because I love you 💕🐾

Kirby the bulldog took his toy obsession a little too far and swallowed some plastic that caused a serious blockage in his intestines. He ended up needing emergency surgery and a resection and anastomosis to remove a piece of damaged bowel. It was a scary time, but we’re so thankful to say Kirby is back home, recovering like a champ and feeling great!

Let’s all wish this sweet, mischievous boy a smooth recovery… and remind him that toys are for playing, not snacking.

Stay out of trouble, Kirby! 🐶💙
