... Look at the state of . ๐Ÿ˜” These little plants just canโ€™t get as much love as our new little guy this year. We were over zealous anyway with baby due in May. ๐Ÿ‘ถ But Iโ€™m embarrassed we let it get so bad. My hands and back hurt after 2 hours of clearing, and hubby had to take over. So many invaders. So deconditioned. Our surviving veggies can now breathe. ๐Ÿ™ Next spring pregnancy, weโ€™ll set the appropriate expectations and not think weโ€™ll have free time for WEEDING - of all things. Maybe donโ€™t plant? Maybe hire someone? HAHA

Yesterday was my birthday! It crept up, and I actually forgot. But my loving husband did not. He sneakily secured a box of cupcakes from a new bakery and surprised me with a single candlelit goody to close out the weirdest pandemic laden / newborn managing b-day ever. You know what I say... This was me 6 weeks ago. After the toughest workout of my life. Pushing a 6 pound 10 ounce babe out naturally. Using every muscle and every breath. Taking all Iโ€™ve learned in wellness, physically and mentally, to control and be patient and do the work. Iโ€™m so proud of us - myself, Joe and little Burcham Connelly Johnson.

As they all say, time has flown by. Fitting in work-work is hard, but Iโ€™m loving my new job as Mom. And Iโ€™m happy to make my return to Whole Fit posting!

In honor of Earth Day... Tips from WWF ... Small changes for you. Big wins for the Earth. ๐ŸŒŽ ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿฆ ๐Ÿ’ฆ

1) Clean, Naturally
You can make effective, nontoxic cleaning products using baking soda, vinegar, lemon and soap as ingredients.

2) Turn It Off
Running your faucet for 5 minutes uses as much energy as a 60-watt light bulb in 14 hours, so shut it down when you brush your teeth.

3) Get Efficient
Refrigerators and freezer units account for 1/6 of a home's energy use. Select energy-efficient models when buying replacements.

4) Switch To E-Bills
In the U.S., paper bills alone generate almost 2 million tons of CO2.

5) Shower Up
A full bathtub uses about 70 gallons of water, but a 5-minute shower takes only 10 to 25 gallons.

6) Buy Local & Fresh
In North America, fruits and vegetables travel an average of 1,500 miles before reaching your plate.

7) Pull The Plug
Many idle electronis use energy even when switched off, so unplug devices when you're not using them.

8)๏ฟผ Change A Bulb
Replacing 1 regular light bulb with a compact flourescent light can elminiate 150 pounds of CO2 annually.

9) Power Down
Screensavers don't use less energy, so use "sleep mode" and turn off your computer at the end of the day.

10) Go Solar
It's easier than you think! Powering your home with solar panels not only shrinks your carbon footprint but it helps lower electric bills and increase home value.

At 36 weeks, and I may have to give up yard work. I must honor this baby-toting body, that is hardly able to bend over now. And all my favorite annual tasks are ticked off the list... Vegetables, herbs and flowers planted. Beds, pots and hanging baskets. Fertilizer. Fungicide. Pine straw... Hubby has been ๐Ÿช“ killing it ๐Ÿช“ too and boldly takes over . A reason (or 3) to treat yo'self this Easter? ๐Ÿฐ Snacking on dark chocolate that has at least 70% cacao can decrease stress, improve your mood, and sharpen your memory. That's because cacao is packed with flavonoids, the powerful antioxidants known to enhance brain health and lower cortisol levels. ๐Ÿซ But just downing an egg-shaped truffle before bed won't do the trick. Opt for a 40-gram serving (2-4 squares) and nibble on it periodically to reap rewards all day long, instead of wolfing it in one sitting. ๐Ÿฃ Cheers to sweet science!

Unexpected exercise!! Try painting a room at 7 months pregnant. Patching and trimming. Hitting the highs and lows. Contorting your body for straight-line precision. It's tough! Cauliflower Macaroni and Cheese offers a twist. Giving you my very quick, "no measurements" recipe. Cuz you can do your own thing with a mostly fool-proof, like this. Hoping this makes life easy - and at ease.

1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease baking dish. 2) Cook noodles until al dente. 3) Saute onion and garlic just until softened. 4) Mix all of this together: prepared noodles, onion, garlic with LOTS of small-chopped cauliflower and NOT TOO MUCH chunked ham, shredded cheese, evaporated milk, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, white pepper. 4) Pour into dish and top with panko bread crumbs. 5) Bake for 30 minutes.

Getting rid of all of these. Yard work just ainโ€™t what it used to be with 20 extra pounds and pelvic pain. ๐Ÿ‘ถ

Wellness Rules

Wellness is fundamental to existence. We take care of ourselves. We take care of others. We donโ€™t just survive. We thrive.

Hmm... Easier said than done. Unfortunately, people in South Carolina and in the United States are notoriously unhealthy, and obesity and chronic disease run rampant. A lot of help is needed.

I feel compelled to use my background in communications and health/fitness for a great cause. To create resounding content. To prompt action and commitment. To show the worthwhile results. To help people get well in any way possible.

I want to support businesses furthering wellness with services and products. I want to support organizations engaged in healthy initiatives. I want to support individuals with lifestyle change.
