The SRHS General Surgery Residency Program prepares residents with the knowledge and experience needed for surgical practice.

The breadth and complexity of cases and the quality of learning are second to none.

PGY5 Dr. Johnson and PGY1 Dr. Arab teamed up for an emergency laparoscopic appendectomy. Our Acute Care Surgery/Trauma rotation is the busiest in the program—giving residents hands-on experience with managing trauma cases, ED surgical emergencies and urgent and elective procedures through the ACS clinic.

PGY2 Dr. Joshua Bennett performs a radiofrequency ablation of a refluxing saphenous vein during his vascular rotation. Our vascular service covers a broad range of vascular procedures including standard open operations, endovascular procedures and a busy noninvasive vascular lab.

PGY3 Dr. Madison Clements staples the bronchus during a robotic pulmonary lobectomy with faculty Dr. Nguyen and PGY5 Chief Dr. Stephen Smith. Our program offers newly developed DaVinci Robotics curriculum to ensure all graduates finish with their robotics equivalency training certificate.

Our residents attend a weekly SCORE conference to prepare for ABSITE and Boards. It can include group questions, resident-led mock orals and presentations from attendings.
