Mrs. Mia Lake Marshall is a native of Spartanburg, SC, but has been a resident of Hammond since the year 2000. Mrs. Marshall taught Art for several years in the Tangipahoa Parish school district before retiring and painting professionally.

She divides her time between volunteering, painting professionally and teaching private lessons. She is the owner of SPLASH!, a mobile Paint and Sip party service. Her greatest passion is sharing her love of the arts and advocating for excellence in education.

Mia is married to former Hammond City Councilman, Lemar Marshall. They have two sons, Ellis and Aaron, a daughter-in-law, Josiane, and one precious grandchild, Eden.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

“My process typically begins with a problem or a subject I feel passionate about. Painting gives me the opportunity to express an idea or explore narratives. I utilize color and texture to affect the mood and temperature of the painting. My style is ever changing, and my focus is largely dependent upon the topic, mood and context in which I find myself creating.”

Since 1967, Epsilon Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. has served the Spartanburg community faithfully and cheerfully. Having awarded over $250,000 in scholarships/grants Epsilon Nu continues to do more. Entering the 6th year, the Annual Dr. C. Tyrone Gilmore Charity Golf Classic supports the Dr. C. Tyrone Gilmore Community Fund, St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic, and Spartanburg School District Seven First Tee Program. Join us as we raise funds for OUR community of SPARTANBURG!
