The midwives at Labors of Love Birth Center, LLC are dedicated to educating clients about childbirth options and empowering them through their birth experience. The Labors of Love Birth Center was conceived, labored over and birthed to meet a growing need of families in the upstate of South Carolina and surrounding counties of North Carolina. Our midwives practiced in homes for over 11 years, but were getting calls from women who were not comfortable birthing at home and who wanted the option to deliver outside of the hospital. These were young, educated women who had done hours of research on their own and found what they were looking for: someone who would respect their opinions, provide them with resources and give them freedom to choose where and how to birth. To address this need, we did extensive research, formed a plan, acquired necessary permits, secured a building and launched into renovations to create something beautiful. Finally, our midwives and families were able have the best of both worlds: a home-like environment and easy access to medical facilities should they become necessary.

"Birth is utterly resistant to control"

We often talk with our moms about the power of surrender. The deep power that is found in releasing your expectations, surrendering to each contraction as it comes, trusting that against all fears — your body does know how to birth.

Ways to support the surrendered mindset:
• Deep, rhythmic breathing helps move you from the thinking brain (neocortex) to the primal brain (brainstem), which supports natural labor.
• Movement & Sound
Rocking, swaying, vocalizing, or moaning helps release tension and brings you into your body, out of your head.
• Guided Visualization or Hypnobirthing
These tools train your mind to release fear and relax into the sensations of labor.
• Affirmations and prayer
Repeating phrases like "My body knows what to do" or scripture such as "The Lord is my ever present help in time of need” helps you stay grounded.

Expect that things might not go according to plan. Releasing control means being open to what is, not what should be. Surrender is all about posture…we love the sacred way each mother steps into this

Team spotlight✨
Brandi has been an incredible addition to our team for the last 3 years. She is attentive, gentle, and such a mothering presence to her own mothers she gets to serve. She is skilled and brings so much insight and heart to our team!
This year we had the joy of watching her finally become licensed as a midwife herself!! She now gets to add LM, CPM to the end of her name🥳 it is hard-earned and well-deserved; we are so proud of her!! She has served our clients well as a student and we are so grateful she is staying a part of our team. If you were under her care as a momma or have worked alongside Brandi in the last few years, please drop a comment about something sweet and impactful you remember about her!!💜
We’ve asked each member of our team to share what they have learned about birth in the last few years, and this is what she had to say:
“In the past year, I’ve learned that women carry an instinctive wisdom in birth and that the space around them must be protected with great care. I’ve seen how both spoken reassurance and quiet presence can make all the difference. Walking alongside women as they become mothers is a sacred honor I never take for granted.”
We love you so much Brandi!!

Family time in the office💜
Natalie was surrounded by skilled hands and steady words for her labor and birth. She was a dear friend of some of our team already, and those friendships got to deepen even more as we came around her in her labor. What a special experience for all involved, and what joy to watch her family grow!
