This big brother was VERY excited about the new addition to the family🤭 we love seeing the moments after birth when siblings snuggle close and take it all in. Many of them are also very sensitive to how mama is doing; we love seeing their caring and intuitive natures🥹

Team introduction: Melissa🌸 This is already a familiar face to many of you, as she has worked at our birth center as an RN for many years. She has recently earned her license as a CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife), which is a huge feat! We are so proud of her and thrilled to have her continue with our team in this role…Here is a sweet bio from her and services she will be offering!
“Welcome! I’m Melissa Brackett, an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care to women and families at every stage of life.
My passion for supporting women through their birth journeys began many years ago when I started as a doula. From there, I advanced to a birth assistant, then to a registered nurse, and eventually achieved my dream of becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). With a Bachelor’s degree from USC Upstate and a Master’s from the University of Cincinnati, I bring both a wealth of education and years of hands-on experience in out-of-hospital setting. I’ve had the privilege of serving families at Labors of Love in various roles, and each step of my career has deepened my commitment to providing holistic care focused on the unique needs of every patient.
Currently, I am accepting expectant mothers and would be honored to support you through your pregnancy, from prenatal care to labor and delivery. My approach is centered on empowering women with information, options, and the support they need to feel confident and in control during their birthing experience.
In the near future, I’ll also be expanding my practice to offer comprehensive women’s health and gynecology care. Whether it’s routine check-ups, family planning, or addressing more complex health concerns, I’m excited to offer a full spectrum of care with the same dedication and attention to your individual needs.
Outside of my professional life, I’m a wife and mother to two wonderful boys, ages 16 and 9. Family is at the heart of everything I do, and when I’m not caring for my patients, you’ll find me spending time with my loved ones, attending church, riding horses, gardening, and exploring the outdoors. I believe in maintaining a healthy work-life balance, which helps me bring a fresh perspective and energy to my practice.
I understand how important it is to find a healthcare provider who not only listens but truly cares. I’m here to offer you a welcoming space where you feel heard, valued, and supported every step of the way. A pretty cool view that we get to see often💗
A lot of times, mamas will deliver in the water and then stay there until placenta is delivered. We love this and encourage it! A big reason we would ask you to get out of the water is if we noticed some extra bleeding - but most of the time bleeding is just fine and we’ve got a little bowl ready for the placenta!! And this dad got to continue doing his honorary task of cutting the cord✂️

Delivery ~ this is the big moment.
Baby’s head delivers, and sometimes a whole contraction passes before the shoulders and body - don’t panic! Your midwife will guide you as you need it. And then that sweet baby is here💗 Relief, tears, laughter, disbelief, love. There’s nothing quite like meeting your baby for the first time👶🏼
