"Birth is utterly resistant to control"
We often talk with our moms about the power of surrender. The deep power that is found in releasing your expectations, surrendering to each contraction as it comes, trusting that against all fears — your body does know how to birth.
Ways to support the surrendered mindset:
• Deep, rhythmic breathing helps move you from the thinking brain (neocortex) to the primal brain (brainstem), which supports natural labor.
• Movement & Sound
Rocking, swaying, vocalizing, or moaning helps release tension and brings you into your body, out of your head.
• Guided Visualization or Hypnobirthing
These tools train your mind to release fear and relax into the sensations of labor.
• Affirmations and prayer
Repeating phrases like "My body knows what to do" or scripture such as "The Lord is my ever present help in time of need” helps you stay grounded.
Expect that things might not go according to plan. Releasing control means being open to what is, not what should be. Surrender is all about posture…we love the sacred way each mother steps into this
