There are moments in health care that reveal the true depth of a nurse's calling. For one family, that moment came in the presence of Avery, a nurse who cared for their 84-year-old father at Spartanburg Medical Center.

The patient's family said that Avery "felt more like a friend than a nurse, and we will never forget the comfort she provided our dad."

Thank you, Avery, for your commitment to your patients. We are so grateful for you!

The newly relaunched Regional Fellows 2026 is two sessions into its six-month journey through our healthcare system. The program brings a class of community leaders together for an immersive learning experience and conversations with experts, offering a deeper look at the healthcare landscape and how our system serves the region.

This month, Fellows explored heart and vascular services and, in the months ahead, will gain insight into topics ranging from rural health to cancer innovations to emergency services. Each session adds new perspective on the scope of care Spartanburg Regional provides and the experts working behind the scenes to support the health of our area.

With more than 100,000 visits to the Emergency Center each year, our hospital system is committed to providing the best standard of health care for every person who comes through our doors. Spartanburg Regional includes the Spartanburg Regional Physician Group, a network of physician offices located throughout five counties; Regional HealthPlus, a network of hospitals and physicians of every specialty; Spartanburg Regional Foundation; Spartanburg County Emergency Medical Services; and the Village Hospital, located in Greer. We provide programs in home health, imaging services, pediatrics, occupational health, sports medicine and rehabilitation. Outpatient surgery is offered through the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Spartanburg and the Surgery Center at Pelham. The Emergency Center, Gibbs Cancer Center, Heart Center and Women’s Health at Spartanburg Regional are recognized as Centers of Excellence. Providing expert care means having all the systems in place to identify and address medical conditions at every stage of your life. That’s the guiding force behind each of our specialties.
