It's National Community Health Worker Awareness Week! This week, we want to recognize the CHWs who play a vital role in serving the underserved population in our community.

Meet Hannah, a community health coach who has been with the system since July of 2024. In her role, Hannah serves patients who typically have a high-readmittance into the hospital following discharge. She provides education and resources to help lower those chances of going back to an inpatient setting.

To establish goals, Hannah gets to know her patients and their needs through home and telephone visits.

"As a Christian, I believe the best way to be a good witness and show the love of Jesus is through how you treat and speak to people," said Hannah, referring to why she enjoys her job so much.

We're so grateful to have Hannah on our team!

Meet Emily, our latest Daisy Award winner! Emily is a nurse in our surgery department at Spartanburg Medical Center. She was nominated by a patient's wife, who also happens to be a nurse for an operating room at a different healthcare system.

The person who nominated Emily said that "operating room staff often work behind the scenes and don't always receive the recognition they deserve. I want to ensure this nurse is acknowledged for her outstanding work and the compassion she showed not only to my husband, but to me as well."

Congratulations, Emily! We are so grateful to have you.

After a birth that didn't go quite as planned, Erin Zee was able to provide breastmilk to her baby boy through help from lactation specialists and local milk donations.

Erin Zee had a joyful anticipation of breastfeeding her son after he was born, but instead, she ended up in an intensive care unit for nearly a week after giving birth.
