We are so grateful to Kyleigh, a senior at the University of South Carolina and a Union County native, for supporting the stroke education and rehabilitation services funds through her Grassroots Fundraiser. Inspired by the firsthand experiences of family members and friends navigating life after stroke, she brought the community together for an evening of raffle prizes, shared stories and generous support for an important cause. Kyleigh also asked that we give a special shoutout to Wingz Sports Pub in Union for hosting the event and donating 10% of the night’s proceeds to support her fundraiser, and to Chris Callahan, Insurance and Financial Services LLC, for helping make the evening possible. Thank you, Kyleigh, for your heart, leadership and commitment to supporting others as they navigate life after stroke.

The Spartanburg Regional Foundation Board of Trustees toured the state‑of‑the‑art simulation rooms at Spartanburg Medical Center, where nurses, students and even local high schoolers train using lifelike mannequins. Trustees saw firsthand how philanthropic support strengthens clinical education and prepares the future healthcare workforce across Spartanburg, Union and Cherokee counties.

We were grateful to gather with corporate and community partners for our Coffee & Conversation Breakfast as we kicked off the Spartanburg Regional Foundation’s 2026 Corporate Giving Opportunities.

Hosted in the remarkable Aycock Education Center—made possible through the generosity of individual and corporate donors—this meaningful morning provided an opportunity to connect, share Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and Spartanburg Regional Foundation priorities and highlight how philanthropic partnerships continue to advance health care and strengthen community health across our region.

🌟 Honoring a Legacy of Care and Compassion 🌟

Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of a former colleague, Barbara Younkin, whose dedication to our healthcare system continues to make an impact far beyond her years of service.

During her time with us, she brought heart, commitment and excellence to her work every single day. Her passion for caring for others shaped her team, inspired her peers and strengthened the care we provide to our community.

In a final, extraordinary act of generosity, she chose to include her department in her estate plans. Her gift is a powerful reminder that one person’s belief in our mission can create a lasting ripple of hope and healing.

Spartanburg Regional is taking rehabilitation to a new level with virtual reality. Thanks to a Spartanburg Regional Foundation grant and a partnership with NeuroRehab VR, patients can now practice real-world skills in safe, immersive virtual environments, all guided by our expert therapists.

Big news worth celebrating! 💗✨

Thanks to a generous $50,000 grant from Pledge the Pink, breast cancer survivors in our community are receiving the tools they need to heal with strength and confidence. 🎀✨
With these funds, Gibbs Cancer Center purchased 600 gym kits for patients (with 275 distributed so far) and expanded its weekly fitness class — helping survivors stay active during and after treatment. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with patients sharing how empowering it feels to have real tools in their hands.

With a master's degree in public administration from Clemson University, she brings a wealth of experience in grant management, data‑informed decision making and authentic community partnership. Earlier this month, the Heart Wellness Team celebrated Wear Red Day with a hands-on event featuring their Mega Heart inflatable. This interactive heart brings heart health education to life and is now a valuable community resource thanks to a 2025 grant from the Foundation.
