Mental Health America's mission is to promote positive mental health through advocacy, education and service. MHA's overall goal is to reduce the stigma around mental health issues and begin the conversation necessary for all of our residents. This local satellite of the South Carolina organization is determined to offer engaging, impactful programs and resources for the betterment of Spartanburg County. EDUCATIONAL SERIES

Our 2024 Educational Series is being offered via Zoom Webinars. Check out all of our Facebook Events for dates, topics, speakers and registration links. These programs are free to the public. Or, through our partnership with Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Corporate Education, counselors and social workers can apply for Continuing Education Credits for a $15 fee.

Tosha presents “Bridging the Gap: Why Mental Health Clinicians Must Expand Access to Neurodiverse-Affirming Care.” Her session provides evidence-based guidance to support autistic individuals and their families using neuro-affirming, regulation-centered, sensory-informed interventions. Tosha is a licensed professional counselor, autism specialist, and co-founder of Upstate Carolina Autism Associates. She is also the published author of AUTISMOLOGY and host of the Autism in Action Podcast.

Michelle’s session, “It’s Getting Hot in Here: Menopause and Mental Health”, examines how hormonal changes affect cognition, mood, sleep, and appetite, especially highlighting disparities experienced by Black women. Attendees will learn strategies for advocacy, education, and proactive healthcare discussions.

Michelle is the Director of Behavioral Health for Family Health Centers, Inc., a National Board-Certified Counselor, and a licensed supervisor. She has extensive experience in therapy, wellness coaching, and resilience training.
