Meet Dr. Renae Welke, the dedicated owner behind Family Optical! With more than 14 years of optometry experience in the Black Hills, Dr. Welke brings a strong background in medical eye care, ocular disease management, and surgical co-management. After years in a high-volume ophthalmology setting, she stepped into ownership on January 1, 2026, continuing the trusted legacy of a practice that has served patients since 2005. Her passion for relationship-driven care and evidence-based medicine makes this next chapter an exciting one for both her team and the community.
Family Optical provides personalized eye care for every generation, offering comprehensive medical and routine exams, prescription eyewear, and contact lenses—all delivered with compassion, integrity, and attention to each patient’s lifestyle and long-term vision health. Combining advanced diagnostic technology with a warm, welcoming environment, the practice ensures patients feel informed, comfortable, and confident in their care.
What sets Family Optical apart is its commitment to truly knowing its patients. The team takes time to educate, guide, and support individuals and families, many of whom have trusted the practice for generations.
