Monday, we had some goat therapy for residents and staff! One of our CNA/CMAs, Roxy and her husband brought in some baby goats for residents and staff to love on! As you can see by the photos there were smiles across the board!

Thank you Roxy and Mitch for bringing the babies! We loved having them!

Today, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate two incredible women who make a lasting impact on our residents, families, and team every single day — Tarra (Director of Social Services) and Megan.

Tarra has long been a steady, calm, and compassionate leader within our facility. She approaches every situation with empathy, thoughtfulness, and a deep understanding of the people she serves. Her attention to detail and dedication to doing things the right way ensures our residents receive the best possible care and support.

Since joining our team, Megan has brought that same sense of calm, kindness, and approachability. She takes the time to truly connect with residents and families, always choosing the right approach and leading with compassion.

Together, Tarra and Megan truly represent the heart of Social Services.

They are advocates, listeners, problem-solvers, and above all — champions for our residents’ quality of life. They help bring our teams together, guide person-centered care, and remind us all why we do what we do.

As one of our leaders shared, “They are the epitome of what Social Services is all about.”

We are incredibly grateful for everything you both do. Your impact does not go unnoticed.

Charlotte (Administrator) - "Tarra has always been the calm, reasonable voice for all of us. She leads with empathy and always considers what is behind someone's thinking to help them the best she can. She is one of our residents, and our facility's, biggest assets. She does everything with a detailed approach to ensure that nothing is missed, such as her thorough care planning and discharge planning. Meghan came to work with us, and we found out that she has the same calm personality that Tarra does. She is caring and takes the time to use the correct approach with all of our residents. She is always friendly and easy to approach. These two are the epitome of what Social Services is all about."

Haile (DON) - "Social Services is the glue that holds our departments together, and Tarra and Megan are the best there is. They always lead with compassion, empathy, and understanding and are diligent in their roles to advocate for residents, family, and staff. They dedicate their time empowering staff to choose the person-centered approach and advocate for the best quality of life our caregivers can possibly provide. They embody the standard of what social services should entail and are one of our most valuable assets."

Lindsey (DOR) - "As another department head, I am continually inspired by Tarra's genuine insight, compassionate care and consideration for our residents. Tarra sees through a different lens - one that goes beyond diagnosis, tasks and daily routines and sees residents' history, their relationships, their fears and their hopes. We are now so lucky to have Megan join our team! She has shown nothing short of full confidence and ability. Together, their contributions are essential and are the groundwork to the successes of our residents and facility."

🐾 Spearfish Canyon Healthcare Pet Supply Drive! 🐾

Our team at Spearfish Canyon Healthcare is excited to help support some amazing organizations that care for animals in need.

We are collecting supplies for:
❤️ Team Cat – supporting the Western Hills Humane Society
🐶 Team Dog – supporting the Oglala Pet Project (OPP)

These groups do incredible work caring for animals and helping them find loving homes.

🐾 How You Can Help

Bring in any of the requested items listed in the graphics below — things like pet food, grooming supplies, toys, blankets, and more.

🌸🏍️ Spring must be getting close… because motorcycles are showing up at Spearfish Canyon Healthcare! 🏍️🌸

Yesterday our Dietary Manager Ronnie and HR’s Amber rode their motorcycles to work and parked them up front so some of our residents could come out and take a look.

The smiles said it all. 😊
For many of our residents it brought back memories of riding, road trips, and warm spring days on the open road.

Moments like this remind us how special the little things can be — sunshine, fresh air, and sharing experiences together as a community.
We love seeing our residents light up like this. ❤️
