THE STOCKING PROJECT — A Northwest Iowa Counseling Community Initiative

The holidays can be an especially hard time for families, and we know finances feel tight for many right now. At Northwest Iowa Counseling, we want every child in our community to experience the joy and magic of Christmas — including having a stocking hung just for them.

Through The Stocking Project, we will be providing FREE filled Christmas stockings for local kids. Each stocking will be thoughtfully prepared based on the child’s age and gender preference (if requested), ensuring it feels personal and special.
This project is for any family, Northwest Iowa Counseling client or not, who could benefit — no explanation needed.

Families must submit their request through the online link by DECEMBER 1. When completing the form, please make sure to select a pick-up time that will work for you.

No barriers. No questions asked. Just community caring for its kids.

CALLING ALL HELPING HEARTS — HELP US MAKE IT POSSIBLE: every child, every stocking, every smile.

Our hearts are so full seeing the response to The Stocking Project. Families are reaching out. Children are being added to our list (DOZENS of children already registered in just over 12 hours). And the hope behind every request reminds us why this matters so deeply. The link for The Stocking Project sign up can be found pinned at the top of our page.

As the number of stockings grows, we’re opening our arms to anyone in our community — individuals, families, groups, and local businesses — who wants to be part of something truly special this Christmas.

If you feel moved to help, we are grateful for support in any form:
- Monetary donations to help purchase age-appropriate stocking items
- Item donations like NEW small toys, stockings, fidgets, art supplies, mittens/gloves/hats, or other kid-friendly stocking stuffers to fit age ranges from 0 to 19 (message or email first if possible to check in on current needs based on requests that have come in)
- Gift cards to help us fill in specific needs
- Bulk items for those able to contribute on a larger scale

Every donation, big or small, becomes a moment of joy for a child who might really need it this year. Your kindness helps us send a simple but powerful message:
