One of the many responsibilities I have in the office is managing our social media page, which, for the most part, I find both easy and enjoyable. Most of our posts are designed to keep you informed about what's happening in our office or to share something fun and exciting. While we often celebrate accomplishments, birthdays, and workaversaries, we generally avoid sharing personal information.
Today, I feel honored to share something different—something that comes straight from the heart. It’s a vulnerable moment, as I want to protect her while also honoring her journey.
For years, our office has participated in the Pink Ribbon Golf Tournament, raising awareness for breast cancer. Not knowing that one day we would stand in support of one of our own. One of the toughest challenges we've faced as a team (which, if you know anything about our office, we've had some tough times) has been witnessing our dear Dr. Joni Breuer battle one of life’s most brutal fights—breast cancer.
The pictures shared here capture more than just us kicking butt on the golf course; they reflect the strength, support, love, and unity we have for each other, especially for JB (as we call her). Dr. Breuer is not only an exceptional optometrist; she is also a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and one of the strongest women I have ever had the privilege to know.
Despite the challenges she faces, Dr. Breuer continues to care for her patients, offer comfort to others, and show up for work while quietly managing the exhaustion, pain, and emotional burden that accompany treatment. The struggle is real, but so is her courage.
Every day, we are inspired by her strength and humbled by the vulnerability she chooses to share. As a team, we stand with her and will offer whatever support we can, knowing that this battle is NOT hers alone.
On behalf of NWVC, I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we continue to navigate these challenging times. The fight isn’t over yet, but we will keep moving forward and strive to be the best optometrist office we can be.
With love,
