BETTY OLENE WAYNE, 87, of Charleston, West Virginia journeyed home to be with Jesus on May 25, 2020 after a long illness.
She was a dear mother, grandmother, sister, and Christian and will truly be missed.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Sue Stanley; her father, Charles Cecil Wayne; her mother, Mauga Mae Wayne; and her oldest brother, Virgil Wayne.
She is survived by her three children, Barbara (Sam) Savilla, Glen (Debra) Stanley, and Rebecca (David) Myers; five grandchildren, Nancy Savilla, April Stanley, Chad Stanley, Charles Myers, and Sarah Myers; four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Wilma Hern, Charlene Taylor, and Margaret Henderson; and two brothers, James (Mary) Wayne and Randall (Patricia) Wayne.
After long consideration, it was decided by the family to have no services due to the environmental situation, for everyone’s safety and well being at this time. No flowers will be necessary.

CAROLYN SUE LARCH, 60, of Gandeeville, West Virginia passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020 at CAMC Memorial Hospice in Charleston, West Virginia.
She was born April 6, 1960 in Sutton, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Otha and Lena Hersman Brannon. She formerly had a home day care business from 2003-2015.
She is survived by her husband, Kenna Larch and a sister, Brenda Funk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Drake.
There will be no visitation or service. She will be cremated and a memorial service held at a later date. TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME in Spencer, West Virginia is in charge of the arrangements.

MR. ERNEST (TIMMY) DAVIS, 76, of Looneyville, West Virginia, departed this life on May 21, 2020 at Stellar Care in Woodsfield, Ohio.
He was a retired coal miner, avid bow hunter, a devoted Christian, and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Letha Davis; sons, Tim Davis of Tennessee, Greg Brown (Tina) and Chase Brown (Brittany); daughters, Monica Davis (Chet Nichols), Hollie Lukcas (David), Toni Davis (Logan), Ashley Brown, Megan Bottenfield (Greg); sister, Damsel Stollings (Ron); a special granddaughter, Kihanna Brown; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Davis; mother, Yantus Davis; infant son, Timothy Davis; and brothers, Raymond and Robert Davis.

JOSEPH HENRY WOOLWEAVER, 75, of Gandeeville, West Virginia passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020 at home.
He was born November 28, 1944 in Tampa, Florida, a son of the late George Glendwin Woolweaver and Margaret Joanne Davisson Woolweaver. Joe was a Vietnam Air Force veteran. He worked for over 40 years on various government contracts in the space industry in Melbourne, Florida. A lifelong Boy Scout and Eagle Scout, Joe volunteered many hours to further scouting to the benefit of many young people. He also attended the St. John’s United Methodist Church and was instrumental in the development of St. John’s Heights and Community Park.
Joe is survived by his wife, Lisa Anne Otto Allgeyer; step-daughter, Jessi Kirby; step-son, Luke Allgeyer; a brother, Douglas Woolweaver; and was “Opa” to Jessi’s two children, Tate and Autumn.

RUTH O. NICHOLS, 96, of Spencer, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the Roane General Hospital in Spencer.
She was born March 26, 1924 in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Perry and Vena Waggoner Nichols. She was retired from Kellwood and formerly worked at Norris Industries and was a member of the Slate United Methodist Church.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Wayne Holcomb of Reedy and David Holcomb of Spencer; three step-sons, Robert, James, and David Nichols, all of Linden; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry R. Nichols; sons, Kenneth Ray Holcomb and Jerry Mace; daughters, Debra Wolfe and Carolyn Gibson; and brothers, Paul, Oral, Chester, and Perry, Jr..
Gravesides services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the Blessed Hope Cemetery on Egypt Ridge near Spencer with Pastor Danny Whited officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

NORMA G. SMITH, 93, of Walton, died Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at home. She was born November 23, 1926 in Roane County, a daughter of the late Gilbert Hedge and Locie Catherine Cottrell. She was a retired school teacher from the Roane County Board of Education, a loving mother, grandmother, and wife, and a member of the Thorofare Community Church.
She is survived by her seven children, Samuel A. Smith (Brenda) of Clendenin, and Roger L. Smith (Linda), David A. Smith (Rita), Brenda K. Gibson, (Gene), Roy A. Smith (Cyndi), Lois A. Sloan (Wayne) and Bonnie M. Greathouse (Ben), all of Walton; one brother, Claphus C. Cottrell of Charleston; fourteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Rev. Roy I. Smith; and a brother, Tharrell Cottrell of Ohio.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 1:00pm at the Roy I. Smith Family Cemetery on Robinson Run with Rev. Ora Holbert officiating.

SHARON SUE COEN McCROSKEY LOWE, 76, of Spencer, West Virginia went to be with the Lord April 25, 2020 at Charleston Area Medical Center’s Memorial Division.
She was born March 2, 1944 in Spencer, a daughter of the late Floyd Eugene “Gene” Coen and Helen Mace Coen Lester. She previously worked at Hecks in Spencer and retired from Hopemont State Hospital in Terra Alta, West Virginia. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and loved hugs, giggles and watching Disney movies with them. Sharon loved the flowers, balloons and cookies sent to her at Eldercare by her family.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Pauline Mace and Tracie Chapman; an aunt and uncle, Dorothy “Dot” Conner and Jack Mace; and five beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by loving daughters, Teresa McCroskey and her children, Tara Burns, Greg Smith and Doug Smith, all of Spencer, and Tammy (Johnny) Holzworth and her children, Ashleigh Marie, John (J.) Michael, and Zachary Edward Holzworth, and Matthew Alexander and Benjamin Scott Sovine, all of Alexandria, Virginia; and a son, Robert “Robbie” Smith of Spencer. Sharon is also survived by a sister, Connie Coen Yoak; two nieces and many cousins.
Per her request, the body was cremated. TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation or service at the funeral home.

JAMES ORLA “MAD ARTIST” CUNNINGHAM, 56, of Ripley, West Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at CAMC General in Charleston, West Virginia.
He was born January 17, 1964 in Akron, Ohio, a son of James Edward Cunningham and the late Judith Ann Clegg Cunningham. He was born and raised in Akron and moved to the Ripley area with his wife and son in 2011. He was a graduate of Akron East High School in Akron. He worked in the screen printing industry for many years as a printer and an ink technician. Jim was a very talented artist with a wicked sense of humor, was a great cook, loved music, was a lifelong Cleveland sports fan-especially the Browns, and was a proud father of his son, Sam.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Cassandra Struckel Cunningham; son, Samuel Charles Cunningham; sister and brother-in-law, Jacquelyn Sue and Thomas Imhoff; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Jacquelien Struckel; sister-in-law, Angela Edwards; and nephew and niece, Jacob and Olivia Edwards.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, William P. Edwards.
There will be no visitation or service as Jim will be cremated.
