🌿 Living with Alpha-Gal Syndrome (and other food allergies) is completely out of my control…
But I still feel guilty when my non-AGS friends happily follow the same “safe” guidelines for me.

They never mind picking a safe restaurant, skipping the BBQ spot, or making sure there’s always something I can eat. They do it with zero complaints and so much love.

Yet here I am… still apologizing and feeling bad about it. 😔

Anyone else with allergies relate to this guilt?

PS - I have some awesome friends 🩷

Food allergies can feel overwhelming sometimes, especially when they start suddenly after a tick bite, but kindness makes a huge difference. When friends, classmates, and families take the time to be supportive and understanding, it helps create a safer and more welcoming space for everyone.

For kids living with Alpha-gal syndrome, small acts—like asking about safe foods, washing hands after meals, or simply being thoughtful—can mean the world. 🌎

Being a good friend isn’t just about sharing toys or playing together… it’s also about helping each other stay safe. 💛

Kindness + awareness = superhero friendship. 🦸‍♀️✨

Reading to a room full of preschoolers is always a joy, but yesterday was extra special. 📚✨

I had the chance to share my book and talk with these wonderful young learners about food allergies, tick prevention, and how to be a good friend to someone with allergies. The kids asked thoughtful questions, shared their own ideas about staying safe outside!

Moments like this remind me that even the youngest students can learn how to take care of themselves and support each other. 💛

Teaching safety, kindness, and a little superhero confidence—one story at a time. 🦸‍♀️

Thank you to the wonderful Preschool team at Epiphany for inviting me to visit and read my book as a local author! 📚

It was such a joy to spend time with such a lovely group of young learners. Their excitement, curiosity, and big imaginations made the visit so special.

I’m grateful for the warm welcome and for the opportunity to share my story and talk about books, food allergies, and tick prevention with these amazing students. Thank you for all that you do to inspire a love of learning at such an important age! ✨

Living with Alpha-Gal has its ups and downs. Some days feel easy, and other days are a little harder.

But each challenge teaches strength, resilience, and the importance of getting back up again.

Every label read, every question asked, and every safe meal chosen is a small victory. 💪

For those navigating life with Alpha-Gal—keep going. You’re stronger than you realize, and every step forward matters. 🌟

People living with Alpha-gal syndrome learn to think about food in a whole new way. Every snack, meal, and treat becomes a chance to be curious and ask questions. From checking ingredients to learning where food comes from, they build skills that help them stay safe and confident. 👏

Along the way, they also show something pretty amazing—bravery, patience, and problem-solving. 🕵️‍♀️

Navigating food allergies takes teamwork with family, friends, and teachers, and every safe meal is a small victory worth celebrating.🥳

It may not be the adventure anyone expected, but it proves that even everyday moments—like choosing what to eat—can be full of strength and determination. 💪🕵️‍♀️✨

4 years NED (No Evidence of Disease)! 🎉

Four years ago today I had a WLE (wide local excision) to remove a malignant melanoma from my left calf.

Since then, I’ve had multiple biopsies and have gone for full body skin checks every six months. Today I walked out of my appointment with an all clear, and I’m incredibly grateful.

Having alpha-gal syndrome has made me even more aware of how quickly life can change because of something small—a tick bite, a spot on your skin, something easy to overlook. Both experiences have reminded me how important it is to listen to your body and stay proactive about your health.

If there’s one thing I would encourage everyone to do, it’s this: take the time to get your skin checked. Skin exams are quick, simple, and they truly can save your life. If something looks new, changing, or unusual, don’t wait—get it looked at.

Early detection made all the difference for me, and I’m so thankful.

Here’s to 4 years NED, staying vigilant, and taking care of ourselves. 💛

Mammal can hide anywhere!

Sensitivity varies widely to mammal-derived medical products

The goal isn’t fear — it’s communication and planning:
👉 Tell providers early
👉 Ask pharmacists to verify ingredients
👉 Work with an allergist when procedures are planned

Many alpha-gal patients receive medical care safely once teams are aware. Plus, as more doctors learn about Alpha-Gal, the more normalized those questions become.

Knowledge is power!

Today is my oldest’s birthday. He wanted to go out for Korean BBQ. We found a great place- with ventilation, (I’m not fume reactive) and safe options for me. It was excellent!

The menu had every allergen listed which was amazing and our server was super helpful.

We cooked a few chicken and shrimp options first but they offered to change out the grills and utensils if I needed. Most of the sides were safe which was a plus.

So glad to have a delicious new to use place to eat.

May your day be filled with love and safe treats 💕
