When I’m feeling frustrated about something I can’t do at the moment i.e. straddle press. I try to remember that what I can do is still pretty badass!

Injury changes the way we pay attention.

Injuries slow things down, interrupt what feels normal, and usually ask for more patience than we were planning on giving. But there’s always something useful in having to work through them.

When our own body stops responding the way it used to, we start noticing things we may have moved past before — where we push, where we compensate, where we assume something should feel simple just because it once did.

Having to adjust our own practice often gives us more depth as teachers, because we’re not only teaching from what works, but from having had to stay with something when it didn’t.

It gives us a little more range in how we meet people, even when we don’t have the exact answer.

For real though and all jokes aside, ujiayi, aka victorious breath, or sound breathing, has its place, but that place is not for savasana (final rest) when it is time to let go! Not only is it disruptive to others, but breathing in such an active way is not suited to the intention of savasana. It’s OK if you didn’t know—but now you know. So, let’s stop. Love y’all!

Sometimes a different practice gives language to something you’ve already felt, but didn’t quite know how to name.

Different traditions. Different language. A lot of shared intention.

Breath, attention, energy, structure, softness, presence — all working together in a way that helps you feel more connected inside your own body.

This Saturday, Dr. Gayl Hubatch joins us at Nectar Flow Yoga for a workshop exploring where these practices meet.

Saturday, March 7 | 12–1:30 PM

A really approachable place to begin if you’re curious — or if you want to experience familiar ideas through a different lens.

Confidence & perseverance > pretty & picture worthy.
My husband doesn’t practice yoga AND has a fear of heights but he humored me on our hike and honestly I’m more smitten than I’ve ever been 😍

So, who did it better?
