Nearly 40% of women report being misdiagnosed when seeking care for perimenopause symptoms, according to Biote’s newest national survey, Perimenopause Focus. The data points to a healthcare system that frequently overlooks hormonal drivers, with many women treated for anxiety or depression rather than the underlying imbalance. Fewer than half of providers initiate discussions about perimenopause, pushing women to rely on online searches instead of receiving clinically guided information.
These findings underscore the need for stronger clinician training and more accurate, timely patient support—especially as recent regulatory shifts, including the FDA’s removal of the black box warning from hormone therapies, expand access to evidence-based treatment options. Our network of providers applies a science-led, evidence-driven approach to help patients identify and pursue treatment strategies aligned with their individual health needs.
