🌟 Resident Spotlight: Meet Janice! 🌟

This month we’re shining the spotlight on Janice G — a lifelong go-getter with a love for staying active and helping others!

Janice grew up helping on the farm, raising her family, and working hard from a young age (including cleaning houses and doing plenty of walking along the way). Her strong work ethic and caring spirit still shine through today.

🏀 Favorite sport: Basketball — she even played in high school and still enjoys watching games on TV
🥣 Favorite food: A simple bowl of Cheerios
🎨 Favorite colors: Red and blue
🏃 Favorite activity: Running
🎶 Favorite music: Country classics

Spring is in full swing at Accura HealthCare of Spirit Lake, and our April Activities Calendar is packed with fun, connection, and meaningful moments for our residents! 🌷

From Bingo favorites and Happy Hour socials to Spring Cookie Decorating, Painting Flower Pots, Root Beer Float Socials, music visits, church services, pet visits, and even a St. Croix Memorial Service, there’s something happening nearly every day to keep spirits bright and smiles shining.

We’re especially looking forward to special visits from community partners, live music guests, and seasonal crafts that celebrate everything we love about springtime together.

Andrea H. is shining in our March 2026 Employee Spotlight at Accura HealthCare of Spirit Lake! 🌟

With 30 years in healthcare and 3½ years as part of the Accura Spirit Lake family, Andrea brings experience, compassion, and heart to her role as an LPN every single day. Her favorite part of the job? Spending time with the residents and making a difference in their lives.

When she’s not caring for others, Andrea enjoys reading, kayaking, paddleboarding, and playing games on her phone—a great balance of adventure and relaxation! And exciting news for her family: after 20 years of marriage and raising two daughters, Andrea is preparing to welcome her first grandbaby this March. 💕

Thank you, Andrea, for the care, dedication, and positivity you bring to our residents and team. We’re grateful to have you as part of the Accura HealthCare of Spirit Lake family! 👏

🌟 Resident Spotlight – February 2026 🌟

Meet Dave Platt — teacher, coach, banker, and all-around great guy!

Dave’s all about ⚾ baseball, ⛳ golf, and a plate of Grandma Platt’s famous fried chicken. His favorite color? Red, of course. His favorite spots around town? 🌮 Los Pueblos and Javi’s Grill. And when it’s time to travel, you’ll find him heading to Texas or California.

A proud supporter of the United States Marine Corps (celebrating every November 10th 🇺🇸), Dave treasures memories of riding horses with neighbors and believes the secret to success starts with good eye contact and a firm handshake.

Our Story

Accura HealthCare is an Iowa based healthcare company that manages and operates 32 skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers, 13 assisted living centers, and 1 independent center. Accura embraces an upside-down organization philosophy that places residents, patients, and direct care employees at the very top of the organizational chart. In addition, Accura chooses not to be referenced as a corporate office, but rather a Resource Center. The lower an employee is on the chart (thus having more leadership) the more responsibility they have to be a resource to those above them.

Accura’s organizational philosophy creates an upside-down triangle that is reflected in the company's logo. Also visible within the triangle of the logo is one person caring for another; this represents the meaning of the company name. "Accura" is Latin, meaning to take care of or to give attention to.

As members of the Accura team, we all embrace our mission which is "to be partners in care and family for life." As we strive to deliver on our mission, we will do this by adhering to our values of trust, integrity, accountability, commitment, and kindness.
