Fall Festival Fun at Sunshine!
We’re in full Fall Festival mode here at Sunshine — and we don’t do things halfway!
So far, we’ve tackled Football Day (and tackled a few tacos at the Taco Bar), cozied up for Pajama Day, and kicked off our Door Decorating Contest — the creativity is off the charts!
Next up: Flannel Day and Hot Chocolate followed by our big Costume Contest and Bake Sale.
At Sunshine, we celebrate hard and have even more fun!

Sunshine Health’s 2025 Leadership Retreat!
Our leadership team just wrapped up an incredible week at Hills Resort — and what a rejuvenating and inspiring few days it was!
This year’s theme was all about self-care, with an amazing coaching session from Mitch Harrison reminding us how important it is to refill your tank so you can continue to lead with purpose and positivity.
After that, we rolled up our sleeves for two full days of strategic planning for 2026 — mapping out exciting goals and big ideas for the year ahead.
Of course, we also soaked up some sunshine and fun along the way! From delicious meals at Millie’s Restaurant, to popcorn and treats, Trivia and Slingo, peaceful nature walks, stories from the owners, and even a few brave souls taking a polar plunge — it was the perfect mix of work, connection, and laughter.
We headed home refreshed, motivated, and ready for all the amazing things Sunshine will bring next!

Exciting News at Sunshine Health Facilities!
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Leigh Bishop as our new Medical Director!
Dr. Bishop is originally from Spokane and has an incredible background in medicine. After attending Medical School at the University of Washington and completing her Internal Medicine Residency here in Spokane, she has built a diverse career — from serving as a hospitalist, to practicing as an outpatient internal medicine P*P, to her current work in post-acute/geriatric rehabilitation medicine. She also serves as faculty at the University of Washington Spokane/Gonzaga Health Partnership.
Beyond her amazing career, Dr. Bishop is a proud mom to her teenage son, Charlie. When she’s not caring for patients or teaching, you can find her enjoying cycling, yoga, or traveling the world.
We’re so excited to have her leadership, compassion, and expertise guiding our Sunshine family. Please help us give Dr. Bishop the warmest Sunshine welcome in the comments below!

Sunshine Health Facilities is excited to share some great news: Sydney Pehl has been accepted into the LeadingAge Leadership Institute. This is a prestigious, 9-month program that includes four off-site sessions where participants dedicate time to growing their leadership skills and strengthening their impact as a team member.

Sydney has been a long-term member of SHFI, and has shown tremendous growth as a leader. Through her commitment to our culture, her active involvement with the Sunshine Club, and her steady dedication to our mission, Sydney has demonstrated the kind of leadership that aligns with our values and future vision.

Exciting progress at Sunshine on Raymond!

The walls are standing tall, the roof is on, and the sealant is in place. Now, crews are hard at work on the interior — every day brings us one step closer to opening our doors.

We can’t wait to welcome residents and families into this beautiful new assisted living community, built on over 75 years of family-owned and operated care. Stay tuned… the dream is becoming reality right before our eyes!

We were delighted to welcome the talented Bob McMillan Band for an afternoon of toe-tapping music. Residents and staff alike enjoyed the lively tunes, and smiles that filled our home with joy.

Sunshine Health Facilities began in 1949 as the vision of Ellen C. Craig — a woman who cared deeply for people and wanted to provide a safe, loving environment when they were no longer able to live on their own.

Following in her vision, the next generation of her family joined in the mission to enrich the lives of people who are advanced in years, or who need assistance due to illness, injury, or a medical condition. Ellen’s vision eventually became Sunshine Health Facilities. Sunshine Health Facilities is owned by a local family who continues to further Ellen's vision for helping to improve the health and wellness of those in need.

Today, Sunshine Health Facilities is known as a trusted provider of home health, skilled nursing and rehabilitation, senior housing, memory care and inpatient behavioral health treatment.
