In a new study researchers recently found "that those who reported at least an hour of physical activity per day from age 12 to 22 had reduced risk of adenoma—polyps considered a precursor of colorectal cancer—by 7 percent, compared to those with lower activity amounts. Physical activity that started in adulthood reduced risk by 9 percent."

: A heart warming gesture from one of the world's best athletes: "Djokovic held a boy named Joel’s hand walking onto to the court. And before the usual pre-match meeting with the chair umpire, the top seed invited Joel to sit on his bench, and even opened up a water bottle for him. According to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center’s social media pages, Joel is a cancer survivor who was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma before he was born."

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic reached the quarter-finals of the Western & Southern Open Thursday by defeating Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta in straight sets. But the Serbian was not the biggest winner on the court. That honour went to the cancer survivor who escorted him to his bench before his victory.

Read Steve Wilson( president/CEO of the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce) story of beating cancer with CyberKnife! “The deciding factor for me was that this radiation treatment consisted of five 1-hour treatments of very high intensity radiation targeted to very specific spots around the prostate as opposed to six to eight weeks of low-dose radiation,” Steve said. “It was a very easy decision. The other alternative would have been surgery, but then there are side effects to that, and I would have been out of work for a significant amount of time.”

: Spokane CyberKnife and Radiation Oncology Center’s CyberKnife System, available at Summit’s Spokane Valley location, is the first and only dedicated non-surgical and robotic radiation treatment system for tumors throughout the body. It is designed to deliver a very precise type of external radiation treatment known as Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT). It is the only radiation therapy technology that automatically tracks tumor motion and adjusts the treatment beam as natural motion in the patient is detected.

The report’s authors followed 101,257 adults over a five-year period, monitoring their intake of sugary and artificially-sweetened beverages.

Sugary drinks were defined as beverages that contained more than 5% sugar, which included fruit juices that had no added sugar.

During the study, 2,193 cases of cancer were diagnosed among the participants, the equivalent of around 22 cases per 1,000 people.
