Today, we honor all forms of motherhoodâthe joy, the sacrifice, the ache, and the miracle of it all.
To the brand-new moms cradling fresh life in their armsâŚ
To the mamas in the thick of diapers, tantrums, and sleepless nightsâŚ
To the women who have known the deep grief of losing a childâŚ
To those who long to be mothers and are still waiting with open, aching heartsâŚ
To the mothers who grew their families through adoptionâŚ
And to those grieving the loss of their own mothers todayâŚ
You are seen. You are held. You are not alone.
We have a Mother who understands it all. Mother Mary knew the fullness of motherhoodâits radiant joys and its most crushing sorrows. She rejoiced as she carried the Son of God in her womb, and she wept at the foot of the Cross as He gave His life for ours.
She knows what it means to say âyesâ even when it costs everything. Her fiatâher wholehearted yes to Godâis a model for all of us, no matter where we are in our own journey of motherhood or womanhood.
On this Motherâs Day, may we find comfort, courage, and inspiration in Maryâs love. May we turn to her when the days are long, the nights are heavy, or the waiting feels unbearable. And may we rest in the truth that she intercedes for usâtenderly, fiercely, and faithfully.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us.
