This morning I wrapped up my last shift with a wonderful family. They hired me in May from a midwife & colleague recommendation. My last shift was in preparation for mom to return back to work.
As I was coming down the stairs, I saw my client in the kitchen preparing her breast pump for her workday. The second she saw me, she started crying. My heart broke. As we hugged, I told her the first day back is always the hardest, but I know that doesn’t fix her overwhelming sadness. She LOVES her job. She LOVES her baby. It’s the most painful internal battle we have as working parents.
She’s such an awesome person, both personally & professionally. I checked in with her tonight, and she felt like the day went well, and it was fun being back to work. The days will get easier, but you never stop missing your baby. 💔
SO proud of her for facing the day, and doin’ the damn thing. 🥰 💪🏽
