October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month 💚💜
This month will forever be personal for me. It’s for my son, Zakariya, and for every baby whose story was written too soon but will never be forgotten. At just 5 weeks old, Zakariya suffered seizures, bleeding on his brain, and a stroke that went unseen. From that moment, our lives changed forever. He fought the hardest battle a baby could face, with more strength in his little body than I’ve ever seen in my 25 years of life.
On April 1st, 2024, at 11:11 a.m., my baby boy took his final breath only 4 months old and just 7 days shy of turning 5 months. 11:11 will always be sacred to us the moment heaven met earth. Zakariya’s strength lit a fire in me that became Zakariya’s Mission a movement built to honor him by serving others. Through this mission, I advocate for grieving families, raise awareness about medical negligence, and push for better care for mothers and babies especially within the Black community, where our voices are too often ignored.
Grief has taught me that healing doesn’t mean letting go. It means carrying love differently. My son may not be here physically, but he lives through every family we support, every conversation we spark, and every candle we light in remembrance.
On October 15th at 7PM, I’ll be lighting my candle for Zakariya and every angel baby gone too soon joining the world in the Wave of Light. 🌎🕯️
Zakariya, you are my why. My butterfly. My mission. Mommy loves you forever. 💚💜✨
