Spokane is stronger when everyone has a place to belong.
Looking back at 2025, your support made art workshops and community outings a reality. While we celebrate these successes, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) still face daily barriers to independence and inclusion. We are working to remove these obstacles so 2026 starts with real opportunity for everyone.
Ways to take action today:
🎁 Give: Set up a monthly gift or make a one-time donation to sustain these programs.
👥 Show up: Volunteer at a workshop or join us for events like Rock the Runway.
📣 Speak up: Attend an advocacy event or share this post to help us reach more families.
Your support goes beyond creating opportunities for joy and self-expression. See some of the ways you make Spokane a more inclusive place when you give to The Arc of Spokane:
$25 can supply art tools that help people express themselves through creativity.
$50 can give a parent the resources they need to advocate for their child’s education rights.
$100 can provide accessible transportation for community outings and social connections.
$250 can empower teens transitioning into adulthood with mentorship and life skills.
Every action you take helps break a barrier to inclusion. You make this progress possible.

Until only a few decades ago people with developmental disabilities had little opportunity for personal, social or economic growth. But in the 1950s caring citizens across the country banded together in an effort to change that. They created an organization with the purpose of reversing the social conventions that marginalized those with differing abilities. That organization eventually became The Arc. Over the years committed volunteers in Spokane, throughout Washington State and across the nation have worked to build a better world for people with developmental disabilities. Our achievements are remarkable and include:
Helping make public education available to children with developmental disabilities
Helping thousands of adults with developmental disabilites succeed in the workplace
Helping establish community living as an alternative to lifelong institutionalization
Today, The Arc of Spokane works positively with civic leaders at the local, state and national level to encourage good-sense public policy for people with developmental disabilities.
