HH Daffodil Days are here! This is a wonderful way to recognize and encourage our bereaved families. Each year, we are given a special opportunity to bring a little light and comfort to families who have said goodbye to a loved one in our care. Through Daffodil Days, we share bouquets of bright, hopeful flowers with these families as a reminder that they are remembered, supported, and held close in our hearts.https://form.jotform.com/260497285427063

The Spokesman Review did a wonderful feature piece on our very dedicated volunteer coordinator Ruth Wagley and the volunteer department. The article speaks to Ruth’s unique skills that encourage both patient and volunteer satisfaction, as well as highlights our pet therapy team Kim and Daisy and the many roles that are filled by all of our amazing volunteers in the community. Please check the article out below.

Thank you to Ruth for your dedication our patients, their families, and all of our volunteers. Your role is essential in fulfilling our mission that no one dies alone, in pain, or outside their home.

Hi Ruth!
I also would like to add that I appreciate the opportunity to be able to serve our veterans in Hospice today. This was the most fulfilling opportunity I was able to do. I know I made an impact on the 6 men I delivered to today. One person specifically stuck out today and that was Robert. He and his wife really enjoyed my presence as she said he hasn’t smiled that big in a while. I mentioned that they should look into a volunteer for him along with other services they would want as I don’t know the process patients go through. Today was very special to be able to do this so thank you.

Ruth,
Here is what we did. I introduced myself and told the patients somebody made a quilt or afghan for them to recognize their service to our country. Then I showed each one the poem (I Am A Veteran by Andrea Christensen Brett) and asked if I could read it to them after I unwound the item and spread it out so they could see it. I read each one the poem. Then I stood at attention and thanked them for their service and saluted each one and named their service. Three cried…one of them was me!

The light went on where it appeared there was no light. These men appreciated being recognized. They smiled and shook my hand again. The Marine returned the familiar
“OORAH” when I said “Semper Fi.”

All of them returned my salute!
