Introducing Spokane Impact! 🩵

We are thrilled to launch a new professional-level soccer team created for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This team is a part of Project Inspire, a nationwide league built in partnership with the United Soccer League, and was founded by our very own Spokane Velocity player, Nil Vinyals!

Spokane Impact will will be one of 4 teams competing in this new professional league. We are excited to represent an incredible movement that reflects inclusion, community, and the transformative power of sport! 👏

SENSORY SENSITIVITY SWIM CLASS!

Spokane Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with SPRD Aquatics TRS, is offering a pilot pool time designed for swimmers with sensory sensitivities. Each swimmer will be required to have an adult caregiver/parent to provide support as needed. The pool will be less crowded, whistles will not be used as frequently and swimmers can enjoy a zero depth entry, slides, and play structure.

WHERE: Meet at A.M. Cannon Aquatic Center, 1900 W. Mission Ave.
WHEN: Every Friday 7/11 – 8/1 | 12–12:45pm
COST: $40 per participant (class 18827), siblings can register for $10 (class 18228)

PASS is thrilled to announce the launch of a Summer Adaptive Art Program – a creative and inclusive space designed to empower individuals of all abilities through art!

đź—“ Program Start Date: Thursday, July 10th, 2025. Every Thursday, once a week. Last Day of class is July 31st.

đź•’ Time: For artists ages 5-10 years old, class is from 1pm-2:00pm. For artists, 11 years old and up class is from 2:30pm-3:30pm.
📍 Location: A Library in North Spokane, WA.
đź’µ Cost: $35 per artist.
👥 Who Can Join: Open to individuals of all abilities – no experience needed!

Funded by the Research Royalty Fund at the University of Washington, Haring Center for Inclusive Education is recruiting parents and caregivers of children with disabilities ages 3-12 years old to participate in a remote parent education series on challenging behavior. This study aims to increase parents’ knowledge and skills on strategies and supports to prevent and respond to challenging behavior at home. We hope to develop a community that is a safe space for parents and caregivers to
share their experiences, offer support to one another, and strategize together to support challenging behavior at home.

Registration Open: Family ECHO Behavior Management

Family ECHO: Behavior Management is an interactive series designed to empower families with the tools and knowledge to effectively manage behavior in children with developmental disabilities, including autism. This series covers essential behavioral principles, communication strategies, the use of technology, and more, equipping caregivers with a comprehensive understanding of how to support their child's unique needs.

Registration is now open for the session, “Building Functional Communication and Teaching Skills,” taking place on Wednesday, May 21, at 4 p.m. ET. In this session, we will explore functional communication training to understand the purpose of problem behaviors and help parents grasp and implement strategies that emphasize effective communication and behavior management. Participants will also learn various teaching skills designed to reduce negative behaviors.
