Biggest take-away – When all people wear a mask it reduces the spread by 95%! We all need to accept this social change and know it will be with us for the next year or so.

Virus Reproduction – 14 day incubation breaks down this way; contagious 2-3 days before and 7-9 days after symptoms. The reproduction (spread) goes up and down based on social behavior.

How it spreads – Close contact (6’ distance min), Respiratory droplets from nose and mouth, touching contaminated objects. These factors depend on the air movement, duration of exposure, group size and respiratory output.

Duration of the social effect; you all know there is currently no vaccination. Antibodies seem to be positive but only have been tested on a small group and need scientific test and control group testing. The vaccination will take time to develop and get to the mass world market through manufacturing and supply chain.

Annual standard vaccinations are down 60%. If you normally get one or need a booster do NOT delay.

If you need to go to the emergency room for any reason, do NOT delay.

Use hand sanitizer when you get in your car. Wash your hands when you get home and do NOT touch your face in public.

The Breakdown
I have attended two online lectures over the past week given by Dr. Drew and Dr. Polo. Here are the takeaway points I thought were very useful:

Dr. Drew – When both people are wearing masks it drops the contagion rate by 95%. Covid-19 is passed through mucus membrane, nose, mouth and eyes. As you know, don’t touch your face. Wash your hand often. Use gel sanitizer every time you get in your car on your hands, steering wheel and cellphone.

Dr. Polo – Telehealth (face timing a doctor on line) is here to stay. The industry was already moving in this direction it will just be much faster now.

Both doctors – Covid-19 will be affecting our country and world for the next 12 to 18 months.
