Our team at Discovery Counseling Group recently had the opportunity to attend the “Nonviolence in Action: Peacekeeper Training” hosted by

This training focuses on skills like nonviolent communication 🗣️, conflict de-escalation📉, and supporting community safety 🦺during events and demonstrations. All rooted in the belief that peace and justice are active practices we can learn and embody together. ✨

As therapists, we see so many parallels between this work and the heart of mental health care:
✨ holding space during intense emotions
✨ staying grounded in moments of conflict
✨ helping people feel heard, safe, and supported

Work–life balance isn’t about doing everything perfectly, it’s about creating a life that supports your well-being. 🌿

Prioritizing your health ✨means making space for rest, movement, nourishment, and moments to reset. 💤Setting healthy boundaries can protect your time and energy, and learning to say “no” when something doesn’t align can create room for what truly matters.

Cultivating supportive social connections can also play an important role. Meaningful relationships remind us that we’re not meant to navigate life alone.

Balance⚖️ looks different for everyone, but small, intentional choices, caring for your health, honoring your limits, and staying connected, can help create a more sustainable and fulfilling rhythm between work and life. 🤎

In honor of Women’s History Month, we recognize the lasting impact of Mamie Phipps Clark, a pioneering psychologist whose work helped reshape conversations about race🫶🏿, identity🪞, and mental health🧠.

Through her groundbreaking “doll study,” Clark explored how segregation influenced the self-perception and emotional development of Black children. Her research 🔬 helped demonstrate the psychological effects of discrimination and was later referenced in the historic Brown v. Board of Education decision that ended school segregation in the United States.

Clark also co-founded the Northside Center for Child Development, one of the first mental health clinics focused on providing culturally responsive care to children and families in underserved communities.

Her legacy reminds us that mental health care must be inclusive, culturally aware, and rooted in compassion. By continuing to create spaces where individuals feel seen, valued, and supported, we honor the work of leaders like Mamie Phipps Clark. 🤎
