Surgery Center Manager
Department: Endoscopy Reports to: CEO
FLSA Status: Exempt Revision Date: 1/29/2024
Summary:
The Surgery Center Manager will oversee the endoscopy unit and is responsible for providing leadership
and supervision to the nursing and support staff as appropriate. The manager will also direct the
facility’s quality management program which includes oversight of accreditation, licensing, and
credentialing activities. S/he will also plan, organize, direct, and control all aspects of risk management
activities and ensure a safe environment for patients, employees, and visitors to the facility in such a
manner as to comply with laws, regulations and the standards of the accrediting and approval agencies.
The ASC Manager is also responsible for management of the endoscopy equipment. S/he will be easily
identifiable, accessible, and a key figure in the endoscopy unit.
Minimum qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a healthcare setting to include demonstrated leadership
and progressive responsibilities in areas of compliance, quality assurance, and improvement.
• Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Washington.
• Gastroenterology RN Certification or commitment to certify within 12-24 months.
• ACLS certification required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Endoscopy, critical care, or out-patient surgery management experience preferred.
• Proficient in the use of electronic medical records (EMR), Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and
various other required computer programs.

• Knowledge of ASC specific Federal and State regulations and Gastroenterology standards of
care.
• Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
• Ability to monitor and maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
• Effective organizational and time management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
• Ability to work closely and professionally with others.
• Willingness to consistently exhibit behaviors that enhance professional performance and reflect
key moral commitments, ethical principles, values, and philosophy of the center.
• Patient assessment, education, IV therapy, processing physician orders, monitoring patient lab
values, and preparing and turning over endoscopy rooms.
• Conscious Sedation
• Proficient in the use of ASC and/or endoscopy equipment and devices.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and utilizes skills for prevention of the spread of infection.
• Knowledge of disaster and emergency policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of effective interpersonal relationships.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assists CEO with development, planning, budgeting, and implementation of goals, objectives,
new programs, or new equipment.
• Proactively communicates with the CEO, physicians, and management team on a regular and
consistent basis.
• Ensures compliance with government regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.
• Monitors data to evaluate ASC productivity, efficiency, and quality.
• Conducts ongoing operational assessments to identify, plan, implement, and drive
improvement.
• Establishes and updates standards, procedures, and policies. Monitors employee compliance
with regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Maintains appropriate documentation for accreditation.
• Monitors and supports MIPS organizational compliance, data collection, and reporting.
• Develops, coordinates, and evaluates training programs for staff. Conducts in-service training
programs and coaches employees to help them develop and improve their skills.
• Monitors key indicators such as production and staffing levels to evaluate department efficiency
and minimize overhead.
• Manages staffing needs and ensures all staff are properly oriented upon hire.
• Receives, reviews, and resolves patient, physician, and ASC complaints, concerns, or issues.
• Participates in internal and external risk assessment and disaster preparedness programs.
• Liaison between patients, physicians, and ASC staff. Involves upper management as needed.
• Acts as primary point of contact for emergency management of patients as well as fire drills, etc.
• Oversees supply ordering to ensure minimum supply levels are maintained and costs are
minimized.
• Monitors procedure and staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage is available and is as
efficient as possible.
• Assists with fielding sick calls and coordinating coverage as needed.
• Maintains strict confidentiality related to all matters of the governing board and each individual
staff member; is HIPAA compliant with all patient information.
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned or needed.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to
successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the
employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand;
walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. The
amount of time spent lifting or exerting force is about 50% for up to 10 pounds and less than one-third
of the time up to 25 – 40 pounds. Rarely is there a need to lift more than 41 pounds.

Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in an interior clinical office setting. Workflow may be demanding and chaotic
at times requiring the need for multitasking. Exposed to patient population that can present a variety of
