The Port Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is a certified Sensory Inclusive facility. The staff are trained and offer tools to help guests with sensory needs. Caregivers or therapists enter free of charge with a paid membership. The Zoo provides social stories, visual schedules, sensory bags with fidgets, and the Kulture City Sensory Inclusive App. Very cool indeed!!!

The term “spectrum” recognizes the complex range of abilities and challenges in people with the diagnosis within a continuum of severity.

Autism Spectrum Disorder, or autism, is a neurodevelopmental disorder that impacts brain development, causing most individuals to experience communication challenges, difficulty with social interactions, sensory processing differences, very specific and limited interests, and a tendency to repeat specific patterns of behavior.

Introducing our Clinical Director, Melissa Anderson!!

Melissa has been in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis since 2010. Her passion for helping others has led to her career as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Melissa is currently enrolled in a PsyD program. Her goal is to decrease the timeline for families' access to diagnostics and increase access to care.

A fun event for families with children with special needs! 🎄🎅☃️

Join us on Friday, December 6th from 6 - 8pm for our annual A Very Special Christmas Party! This unique party is a free community event, tailored to accommodate our special needs friends of all ages.

Each kid will get their own gingerbread house and a space to themselves. Each family will sign up for their time slot to ensure there is no crowding and everyone has room to move.
