Twas the night before Easter... and all through the field. Not a bunny was stirring… no that just doesn’t sound right. It’s kind of like putting Jesus Christ and chocolate bunnies in the same sentence. Who would have imagined that they would be associated in the same event? Hmm!

Well! How ever you choose to celebrate this moveable event, this time of year brings nothing but smiles. People all over the world prepare for this weekend in different ways. As a Christian, we love to celebrate and honor the resurrection of Jesus Christ. While others, may focus on Easter egg hunts, brightly covered candy, or many of the above. Whichever way you and your family choose to celebrate Easter, I have some fun Easter facts and a recipe that I would like to share with you.

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter and get to spend time with family on this joyous holiday!

A GIANT BUNNY HEAD FRUIT PLATTER is sure to bring a few smiles to the party table. No baking skills required.
1 pineapple
1 pear
3 kiwi
18oz blueberries
6oz raspberries
10oz strawberries
The package of blueberries, raspberries and strawberries can be purchased from Costco with the larger containers. The platter is 12"x15" with plenty to spare in a separate bowl.

DID YOU KNOW?

• In the USA, 90 million chocolate bunnies and 91.4 billion eggs are produced each year.
• At Easter, Americans also consume more than 16 million jellybeans.
• The tallest chocolate Easter egg ever was made in Italy in 2011. At 34 feet high and weighed 15, 873 lbs. It was taller than a giraffe and heavier than an elephant.
• Christians celebrate the story of Easter and rejoice in the belief that Jesus died for our sins and was resurrected (came back) from death. Jesus was reborn and lives today; he was reborn because God exists and is alive.
• Eggs have been seen as an ancient symbol of fertility, while springtime is considered to bring new life and rebirth.
• The date of Easter varies each year as it is based on the lunar calendar and the position of the moon. Easter is celebrated on the Sunday after the full moon following March 21st.
• Different countries celebrate Easter in different ways.
• In Sweden they do not have an Easter Bunny, they have an Easter Wizard!
• 76% eat the ears on chocolate bunnies first.
• The first Easter baskets were made to imitate bird nests
• The word Easter dates back to early England; it relates to the Pagan goddess of spring and fertility.

Holiday Tips and Challenges:

Are you ready for a day filled with simplicity and fun?

I have a few tips for you that may help you focus on just that, simplicity and fun!

I'm combining a few of them because I got behind on my daughter's wedding last weekend! It was absolutely beautiful and amazing, AND so glad it was last weekend!

First, let's remember what the reason for the season. It is so easy to get caught up in all of the hustle and bustle of shopping, baking and stress. That we forget about the people we love and the time of giving and serving each other. Hopefully, some of these tips will be helpful this holiday season.

1. Get rid of your scale! This is not the time to weigh yourself. It makes you feel bad and starts that downward spiral of guilt and shame.
Challenge: Have a plan in place and allow yourself to enjoy life, but not overindulge. How do you do that?

2. Focus on the company and the people you love. Challenge: Be present and enjoy conversations, not the food and what is on your plate. As you change your mindset and the gap from food to people, you will recognize that conversations will fill you up more than the food.

3. Water is essential and 65% of your body is made up of water.
Challenge: Always have your glass filled with water. Rather than filling up on empty calories of beverages save those real calories for real food. Then ask yourself is this worth it?

4. Reduce your list! How long is your daily to-do-list? Did you know that your brain works in 3's and most people can only do 3 things well in a single day? We may have 10 things on our list, but only get 3 things completely finished and 5 things started and the other 2 you are just thinking about. That just makes me tired! 😴
So then you go to bed feeling unaccomplished and like you failed. Challenge: Make a list of 3 things. If you get those 3 things done than add 3 more things.

5. Workouts! Anything is better than nothing. Do what you can, where you can, when you can! Challenge: Get your kids involved, turn on some music and start to dance, sing and clean. They will have a great time and you will be making wonderful memories!

6. Reduce holiday stress... by once again preparing ahead.
Challenge: Rather than going crazy wrapping presents, buy gift bags, purchase cookies rather than baking everything homemade. By preserving your time, you are preserving your energy.

7. Leave the perfectionist at home. Perfectionism is the heart of procrastination. It's never good enough, so you put it off.
Challenge: You are good enough and allow yourself to believe it!

8. Skimp on sugar not sleep. Adults need 8 hours of sleep a night, less than that, leaves you craving junk (sugar or salt), more emotional and more proned to stress. If a person sleeps less than 7 hours, they on average, consume more than 350-500 extra calories a day on sugary foods for quick unsustained energy.
Challenge: Turn off the tv, your computer and iPhone 2 hours before bed so your brain can begin to relax and produce melatonin for sleep.

I hope these tips and challenges were helpful, as you strive for success and greatness!

I want to wish you and your family a beautiful Christmas of giving and loving, peace and true joy!

Make it the best Christmas and New Year's ever!

Love,
Trisha
