💙 A Note That Meant the World to Us 💙

We recently received a thoughtful card from one of our amazing clients and pet parents, and we wanted to take a moment to share how much gestures like this truly mean to us.

Veterinary medicine can be challenging, emotional, and demanding, but reminders of appreciation like this make all the difference. Knowing that our care, compassion, and dedication are felt and valued by the families we serve is incredibly meaningful to our entire team.

To all of our clients — thank you for your kindness, trust, and support. We are so grateful to care for your beloved pets and to be part of this community. 🐾

🐾 A Small Patient with a Big Story 🐾

Little Mouse Phillips has had difficulty breathing through her nose since she was just a tiny kitten. Last week, Mouse visited our Internal Medicine team to better understand the extent of her nasal abnormality and explore what could be done to help improve her breathing.

During her visit, our team was able to determine that the abnormality is primarily limited to the front portion of her nose. We also attempted to gently widen her nasal passage using a tiny balloon in hopes of providing some relief. While Mouse may ultimately need surgery to breathe more comfortably long-term, we are grateful to have been able to provide her mom with important answers and a clearer path forward.

We’re proud to be part of Mouse’s journey and honored to support her and her family every step of the way.

Little Phergys visited the Internal Medicine Department this week with concerns for a portosystemic shunt (liver shunt).

A liver shunt is caused by abnormal blood vessels that divert blood around the liver instead of through the liver for filtration. Liver shunts can lead to dangerous accumulation of toxins in the blood.

Luckily little Phergys handled all the necessary testing like a champ and is shunt free. We sure did enjoy puppy cuddles and kisses while he was here though.

🐾 A Story of Strength, Teamwork, and Community 🐾
Over the past few months, our incredible veterinary team here at Pet Emergency Clinic has been fully dedicated, and continuously working around the clock on the hospitalization, rehabilitation, and exceptional care to a brave police K9 named Jango.
His journey has been nothing short of inspiring, and it would not have been possible without the unwavering dedication and compassion of this community.

We are also profoundly grateful to Michelle Shining-Polk for her generous and truly life-saving donation of a long-term ventilator. This equipment played a critical role in supporting Jango’s breathing while also allowing our doctors and medical team vital moments to rest and regroup during his intensive care.
Jango’s road to recovery is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when skilled medicine, teamwork, and community support come together for one shared purpose - saving lives.

We invite you to take a moment to read the article linked below. It is a heartwarming and inspiring story that highlights not only Jango’s resilience, but the dedication of those who stood beside him every step of the way.
At Pet Emergency Clinic, we are truly grateful to have such an extraordinary team and a community that continues to support the animals who depend on us. 💙🐕‍🦺

🚨Keep an Eye on Curious Pups! 🚨

Even our veterinary families aren’t immune to holiday mishaps! While traveling for the holidays, one of our doctors’ dogs, Soju Heilman, got into rat bait 😢🐾. Thankfully, she received prompt care and he’s a great reminder of how important quick action can be.

🧪 What to do if your pet ingests rat bait:
• Act immediately — rat bait is extremely toxic
• Do NOT wait for symptoms to appear
• Do not induce vomiting unless directed by a veterinarian
• Call the pet poison helpline 855-764-7661
• Bring the packaging (if available) so we know exactly what type was ingested
• Seek veterinary care right away — time truly matters

If you ever have concerns about a possible toxin exposure, please call us or head to the nearest emergency veterinary clinic immediately.

We wish you and your pets the best during the holidays! 💚🐶🐱
