Kindness can be something small that leads to something big. Like saying hello to someone that normally gets passed up on. Or giving someone your time. Handing someone money, or a nice word while they are passing by, and it opens a door to them to be able to receive love. It’s serving without a motive other than love and is one of the most impactful things you could do for someone.

Genuine kindness comes from a place of security and self-acceptance - having the courage to be open and vulnerable to others. It shows courage to choose compassion over indifference, anger, or societal norms of individualism.

Kindness has the power to disarm negativity and hostility. It creates avenues for connection and love. It fosters a sense of belonging and builds resilience.

Kindness has an immense amount of power in strengthening relationships, building trust, and creating a ripple effect.

It boosts happiness by releasing oxytocin and dopamine, and reduces stress by taking the focus off of ourselves, and onto helping others.

Kindness opens doors that strength cannot.

Self-talk is your inner voice; it is the constant chatter in our heads. Your inner voice joins together your conscious thought with your belief system to develop an internal monologue throughout your day.

The way you speak to yourself when you make a mistake, or fail, or behave in a way you’re not proud of. The way you speak to yourself when you accomplish something, succeed, or are feeling good.

While negativity can easily creep in, the way you talk to yourself can change the course of your experience. It’s like a mental cheerleader that can boost your mood and confidence, or beat you down and decrease self-esteem.

And just like other mental health awareness building strategies, positive self-talk needs to be practiced. Try challenging your thoughts, highlighting the smaller victories, and offering yourself some encouragement when you notice you’re speaking poorly to yourself.

Little by little, you can rewire your brain’s “go-to” to be more positive and build resiliency and confidence.

For many years, I thought I knew what my values were. It seems like common sense, right? The things that are important to you.. Family, friends, honesty, loyalty.. ya know, the basics.

But it wasn't until I was directly questioned and challenged, and accused of not having values that I really stopped to reflect and IDENTIFY what I value in my life.

Stability. Freedom. Mastery. Compassion. Dependability. These are just a few, but the list goes on...

And not only did I identify my values, I also categorized them from not important to me to very important to me.

Through this experience, not only was I able to now vocalize specifically WHAT I value, but also to what extent.

I started noticing areas in my life where I wasn't living in alignment with what I value. This new awareness put me in a position to make an intentional choice: continue floating through life mindlessly, or intentionally choose to live in alignment.

We get to choose how we show up each day, and it has to be intentional.

I invite you to reflect - what do you value? To what extent? Where are those values showing up in your life? Where are they lacking?

Sometimes it's just taking the day moment by moment, reminding yourself that this feeling, this thought, this challenge, is all temporary.

Sometimes, it's consciously choosing to take a breath, slow down, and move forward.

Sometimes, it's challenging the feeling or thought to stay grounded in truth.

Sometimes, it's choosing healthy distractions to keep you from getting stuck in toxic thought patterns.

Self-care doesn't have to be an extravagant splurge. It's often in the smaller moments.

Sometimes, it's simply taking a deep breath, and reminding yourself that what you're experiencing... is temporary.

Language is a powerful tool that can be used to deepen connection in your friendships and relationships. Communication is a LEARNED skill though. It needs teaching and practice.

Communication is more than verbally speaking. It's actively listening. It's observing. It's clarifying.

Get curious.

High self-esteem needs to be paired with high self-awareness. Confidence and arrogance often look the similar, but the key difference is the condition of your heart. Confidence is being secure in yourself. Arrogance is thinking you’re better than someone else. Confidence is having self-assurance in your own ability. Arrogance is having an exaggerated sense of yourself laced with pride.
