Rosemarie was finishing up her breakfast when she heard there were deer outside. She wheeled her way to the dining room where she spotted a doe and fawn through the window! It put a big smile on her face to see them up close.

We held a car show last week, and so many cool cars showed up! From a '57 Chevy to a 2025 Ford Mustang Black Horse, you name it. The residents enjoyed the Town Car, GTO, Mustang convertible, Corvette, VW Bug, and many more while reminiscing about the old ones they owned and drove. We couldn't believe that the speedometers went to 120 mph, and we admired the wing windows! Oh, and the dimmer switches were even on the floor next to the clutch. It was a very fun day!

Karen, a resident of ours who happens to be a beautician, gave Jess, one of our team members, a haircut! Jess was excited that Karen could do this for her, and her hair turned out fabulous!

Our residents have requested to have bonfires throughout the month, so we've started enjoying them during the afternoon! Of course, we enjoyed s'mores over the fire, too. We've been having a blast sitting around it and telling stories!

Our team had a wonderful time taking part in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Shell Lake this past weekend! Zach (administrator), Tammy (director of nursing), and Amy (rehabilitation director), were proud to join the fight against Alzheimer's alongside their families. Overall, our team raised $800 to fund Alzheimer's care, support, and research. Thank you to everyone who supported our team's fundraiser! We appreciate you so much.

Environmental Services Director Tracey Hayes shared, "Healthcare Environmental Services & Housekeeping Week is September 14-20, and I would like to thank the housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance departments for all their hard work and dedication at Dove Healthcare – Spooner. Sometimes considered behind the scenes, these departments don't always get the recognition they deserve, but if you think about it, would any of us be able to perform our jobs without them? They keep Dove Healthcare clean, do the laundry so our residents have clean clothes and linens daily, and if maintenance were not fixing everything inside and outside, none of us would be able to do our jobs. Everyone, please thank the workers in these departments, and let them know they are appreciated and needed."

Thanks to Rick from AAA Sportshop, we were lucky enough to go on another fishing trip! Denny said, "It was a wonderful experience and a beautiful day to be out fishing." Stan was able to go too, and Alan said "It was fun getting away, I caught the biggest bluegill." We even got to enjoy a fish fry with our catches afterwards! Thanks again, Rick, for being so kind to take us out on the lake.

We are happy to introduce you to Dove Healthcare’s new Vice President of Operations, Jennifer Burklund!

A 2010 graduate of the health care administration program at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Jennifer comes to us with over 15 years of long-term care experience. She has spent the majority of her career in Wisconsin nursing homes in a variety of roles; most recently, regional operations support.

Jennifer shared, “I am privileged to lead the team at Dove Healthcare. My priority is to ensure those we serve receive the highest standard of care, and our team feels valued, supported and is set up for success."

Jennifer grew up in New Auburn and lives in Bloomer with her daughter and son. She enjoys spending time with her family, staying active outdoors, travelling with her significant other, Matt, and relaxing on the lake.

We are excited to announce the HomeGROWN promotion of Emily Gudis to director of operations for Dove Healthcare’s six assisted living locations!

Emily is responsible for overall performance and operations, which includes supervising the assisted living directors and assisted living nurse consultants. Our assisted living locations will benefit greatly from an enhanced, collaborative focus on developing goals, implementing strategy, identifying efficiencies, and leveraging resources
