Many kids spend the day managing attention, sensory input, posture, and social demands. Even when they look “fine,” their nervous system is working hard to stay organized.
By the time they get home, that capacity is often depleted. What looks like overreacting is often a system that has nothing left to give.
That’s why we don’t just look at behavior, we look at load and regulation.
In our office, we assess how well a child’s nervous system is handling daily demands and recovering from them. When the system has more capacity, those end-of-day crashes often become less intense and more manageable.
If after-school meltdowns are a regular pattern in your home, it may be time to look deeper. Schedule an evaluation and let’s assess how your child’s nervous system is adapting.
