For our elderly population whether it be our residents or our parents and grandparents, activity’s of daily life may become challenging.

Not being able to see may make it difficult to take proper medications, not being able to feel our fingertips can prevent us from being able to hold plates and cups. Neuropathy in our feet could prevent us from standing to fold our laundry.

A person experiencing these often feels frustrated or upset about not being able to complete what one would think of as a simple task, take the time to be sensitive and understanding to a persons situation.
Let them know it’s okay to ask for help that it doesnt make them any less for doing so, or to modify how things can get done to provide them with a sense of dignity and self purpose.

We would like to thank Valerie Sanfilippo Ciaccio over at chapters health hospice for providing us with this sensory training. It is truly amazing how compassionate she is on educating people on palliative care and subjects such as Alzheimer’s/dementia. Again thank you for stopping by and allowing us participate in this fun exercise.
