Unfortunately, the Florida Sentate indefinietly stalled HB555 which would have moved the renewal period to 2 years and waived the annual fee for Veterans. Total bummer for sure and we are very surprised by this.

In another unfortunate event, Florida House & Senate approved Bill 2514 and sent it to the Governer's desk for signature.

Here's a summary of the bill's impact on medical ma*****na:

- Revocation of Registrations: SB 2514 mandates the Florida Department of Health (DOH) to cancel the medical ma*****na registrations of qualified patients and caregivers who are convicted or plead guilty or no contest to criminal drug charges.
- Immediate Suspension upon Charge: The language in the latest version of the bill also states that a patient or caregiver's registration would be immediately suspended upon being charged with a state drug crime.
- Convictions Covered: The proposed law would apply even to minor offenses, including the purchase of more than 10 grams of cannabis.
Effective Date: The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.

Our office will continue to monitor and update as things are released about this. Unfortunately, we don't have much more to go on right now.
